Women's Team - 2021/22

I don't believe that but there is far too much chopping and changing of the team. I don't think Taylor is the answer, he's our Phil Chuckle. He'd better pull his finger out against the rags.
I love him to do that but I can't see us winning either game against them. As much as I dislike that club they have appointed two managers of their women's team after formation who appear to be more clued up than our latest one. It is such a pity we have dropped the baton on this front. Their current manager appears a right pratt but knows how to manage.

That was the big chance you work for and a terrible effort at a cross - time, space - so poor. This was a winnable game but tells me we need to move a few on.

Gareth seems to get some of the big calls wrong, you could see Weir was not having a good game and I would have brought on the direct play and industry of Raso. Also the game today needed a player to take control of the midfield, & play under the wind if you like. We played so much better when Losada did that and we created two really good chances - mind blowing we buy a CL winning captain and don't play her regularly. Missing Kelly & her finishing more than most big opportunity wasted again.
A couple of the "senior" players seem past their best and I think we need to start looking for decent replacements this summer.

given chelsea's dominance this season i half-expected a heavy loss. We were not "out-fought and out-managed", we were not schooled in any aspect of the game and chelsea were f'kin delighted/relieved with the 3 points. I am no fan of Taylor, I dont have an agenda to get rid of him as it becomes clearer every game that the injury situation caused the dire performances at the early part of the season. The girls gave their all for him today, and that's all i expect. A cracking game that no-one deserved to lose. The ref played her part, var was brilliant by not being there, the commontary lacklustre but heard many worse. Thathathats all folks...

Thought Vicky Losada lifted the tempo of the team. Weir was not at her best today. Hemp is a top player deserves better from other team mates. Said before too many think because they are in international squads they are better than they actually are. A few need to show more character or be moved on.

Taylor looks out of his depth with his selections and tactics, especially when compared directly with a coach like Emma Hayes.

Tbh looks like it's Chelsea's title to lose as they are better than the rest and City unlikely to win anything .

If the club want the women to improve I think they need to change the manager and build a new team moving some on.

Goodbye summary. City played pretty well but probably took too long to get in the game. Shaw and Weir poor today

We are not capable of playing 10 minutes of decent football. That is not much to ask for; only TEN minutes. And no for the idea of having Houghton or Jill Scott or any other player who has no experience to be in charge. The team needs an experienced individual who knows what he/she is doing. We already have an ignorant coach in charge, and look what is going on.
The future with some of the younger players and the ones brought in on 2 year contracts is looking good we just need a manager capable of having a clear plan and sticking with it. Last season Taylor refused to play one of the best players in the world which created problems with the other American players.

We have a great base and should be much better placed with the squad we have. I hope the club are looking at how he finishes this year now that some of the major injury issues have cleared up a bit - if he manages to get the team on a strong run - great, if not see ya later mate.

I can see White, Weir, Coombs, Beckie and others not being here next season so lets plan for the next 2-3 years rather than let some focus mainly on international games!

Chelsea have got better players as well as a better coach. We are winging good crosses in at the end of the game and we haven’t got enough players in Chelsea’s box or challenge going in the air.

Blackstad looks like she will be a good player for us and Losada deserves a run of starts.

We need a no nonsense centra defender like Millie Bright

I agree with you on Blackstad. Looks like she enjoys a tasty challenge. Losada MUST be starting now as we've nothing to lose trying to get into top 3/4. Could do with Raso starting as well. I rather like Ruby Mace and she could be our 'Bright'. Would like to see her paired with Houghton.

My concerns are the mid. Weir is not the answer. Walsh is not the answer and both don't their places.

Whilst I'm not big on Stanway, as she's in no way a forward, not right sided and not really a mid like the way we set up, I'd like to see her Walsh position, more box-to-box and recycling the ball.

Something has to change as most of the pieces are there!

I can understand Losada being left out of some games in the first half of the season when she didn’t look fully fit. Now her conditioning is improved it seems strange to leave out our star signing and a top class international

we don’t have enough but without Stanway in the team and she gets her share of goals as a midfielder. Georgia looked like she was develooping into a progressive midfielder who could do her defensive duties and also launch attacks and chip in with some important goals. Playing a limited holding midfielder role doesn’t give enough to tue team.

We really need some aerial power at both ends of the pitch. We are fairly weak defending crosses and we don’t carry much of a threat at set pieces either.

Also, Park needs to learn to attack the back post when Hemo is getting to the opposite byline

Stanway playing a Ferna/ Rodri position shouldn't stop her weighing in with goals as we know with the men! Entirely dependant on the mid support, there, and Weir would not suit being alongside Stanway in that scenario, where Losada would, being interchangeable.

I agree about the aerial defending. It's Keystone cops-ish, more often than not!

I think with Park, it's a difficult one as quality of crossing is 50/ 50, so knowing where to be is a lottery!

Looking at the stats I would have thought that we should have got summat from that game. It's the inability to turn small opportunities into a result.
Not seen the stats but I thought Chelsea didn't do much and I think their keeper was busier then Ellie Roebuck. But what Chelsea did do well ,was closing down our play especially our star players. But saying that the lack of any urgency of about 75mins on our part plus not having that little bit of luck in the box cost us today.

Like the guy Everton hired and then fired?
Not sure what a messy club such as Everton has anything to do with us. They were recently chasing Roberto Martinez to come back and save them, and that says a lot. City wouldn’t hire Kompany to coach the men’s team, even though he was an excellent footballer and extremely popular with the fans. Is that because men’s football is a serious business and women’s football is for public relations and image enhancement? If the Club hires players such as Houghton or Jill Scott who know nothing about coaching, yet they are popular among fans, then the Club will further support that women’s football is essentially for public relations. Regardless of what happened at Everton, and I don’t care about Everton, we should hire an experienced individual with an outstanding reputation of leading women football teams to success. We are definitely capable of doing that, if we really want. Then, Houghton and/or Jill Scott, if they are interested, could join the coaching staff to learn.

Mentioning Losada not being picked reminds me of the way that Rose Lavelle was hardly used last season. Fantastic player for the US whenever I have watched her and virtually ignored by Taylor.

Unless there was another issue, she just didn't get the minutes to influence the team.

You know this is a woman's team football thread right?

So go and look at the Everton Ladies team, the manager they hired and then fired inside a season.

Many people in this thread thought he would have been a great replacement for Taylor, that's why I brought up Everton and their now sacked manager.

So you wasted a bit of your life with that rant about normal male football, I mean, I thought it would be fucking obvious myself but hey ho :)

Ps as for Houghton and Scott I also did say coaches, COACHES, then that would lead to progression in the future, you know like it does in REAL football and on that score if that is what you think about ladies football why are you even posting in this thread?

But yeah thanks for all your input, much appreciated.

By replying to you I wasted a bit of my life? What a strange concept! And it was not a rant, but if it makes you happy, it was. Again, in case you missed it, what happened at Everton doesn’t mean any thing to us. One sure thing, what happen at Everton doesn’t mean that hiring Houghton or Jill Scott will work at City; with any logic it won‘t. I agree with you, replying to you is a waste, better to ignore you.

You were the one wittering about Everton's men's team for some weird reason.

Everton woman's team hired what people thought was the best manager around from Lyon the best woman team around, that is why it was relevant if you don't understand that then what can I say?

Hiring the best doesn't always pan out hence my original comment.

Then, Houghton and/or Jill Scott, if they are interested, could join the coaching staff to learn.
Also, you do realise that Scott is already a coach at City, right?

You got the wrong end of the stick and then you climb on your high horse and lecture me why you were right anyway, whilst proving you know absolutely nothing.

lol

See the Continental Cup Final is to be played at Wimbledon, suppose it was to much to ask to play it in the North West somewhere. I.E. Stockport or Bolton.
