Russian invasion of Ukraine

It's all a distraction.

Apparently The Whitehouse is being secured for an Alien landing next week...

No idea. It seems to be more about established prejudices and views than reality.

Ukraine, a sovereign nation, wants to pivot to the West economically. Russia would rather it pivot East and join those other nations who have been ‘encouraged’ to do likewise. They even have their version of the EU to join - the EAEU which will come with the guarantee of Russian troops in your country if the populace ever think about revolting.

To help Ukraine come to the ‘right’ decision, Russia has invaded part of the country, ran a semi-insurgency campaign for years and has now parked 200,00 troops on the borders while banging on about NATO aggression, which is little more than a convenient distraction.

For me, it’s simple. I support the right of Ukraine to decide its future, as do the rest of Europe and the Americans. Russia believes it has a ’right’ to dictate otherwise. Russia and Putin can go fuck themselves.
100% but remember that despite all of this, it’s Biden’s fault because the truth is totally immaterial.

A dozen countries have instructed there citizens to leave the Ukraine and the UK are evacuating all military from the area this weekend.

Perhaps the US or the UK should sell a few nukes to Ukraine. That seemed to keep the peace in western Europe for 70years. Putin wouldn't invade a nuclear power.

Intresting cartoon.

NATO bases surround Russia. Maybe Putin is just doing the same to prove a point. In a see how we feel kind of way?
Sadly Ukraine has become the pawn in this war game.

I stand by my claim fuck all will happen and both sides will claim victory.

Clive Myrie talking sense on bbc one now.

Just because they can invade doesn't mean they will, reiterating in Ukraine itself many are quite calm about it against the hysteria in mainly the US, UK and France

Only 4 statemens voices have been heard on this.

Putin - serial tosspot and enboldened by new deal with China to form a stretegic alliance, especially after China only last year made claims over Russian territory being Chinese lands, but with no threat to his power can piss about and push it as far as he wants especially as the US/UK was made to look inept after the Afghan debarcle, he couldn't give a fuck about day to day russians suffering but need to look strong in front of China.

Johnson - on his arse needs a distraction on the news.

Macron - Election coming up and need a popular win, averting an invasion would be a boon.

Biden - similar to above, inflation in the US is rising, the mid term pollls are not looking good for later in the year, though Biden is doing well a big win on the international stage would be a massive boost.

All 4 have a reason to talk this up while also probably being reluctant to do anythng to escalate.

It's funny if you don't read any UK, US, Russian media bit read reports from countries not involved you get a very different angle that the one we hear everyday and Putins NATO excuse.

Good grief. British defence secretary burbling about appeasement. Remind me, how many battalions does the UK have?
