Point one sounds like a conspiracy theory. It seems to come from a mindset that western powers rule the world and others don’t possess their own agency. It’s odd that the west can successfully install communists in Russia, but then failed to remove them from Vietnam or Cuba. Lenin came by train from Germany, beyond that I doubt any western powers were in control of events.

You’ve perhaps missed a point six: the Russians also committed to respecting Ukrainian territorial integrity.

Not sure why I “have to understand the Russian perspective”. I have my own perspective and I’m perfectly happy seeing things from my own point of view reflecting my own values and interests. Putin doesn’t seem to spend much energy seeing things from a Ukrainian perspective.

Wow...do your research about how Lenin and Trotsky reached Russia..It is no conspiracy, it is fact..The USA GB and Germany for various reasons supported the communists..There were USA troops in Russia..the bankers and industrialists of the USA fed the communist regime..Read about it and then have a discussion.Prove me wrong in one thing I have said. Doesn’t really pass the sniff test does it? A UK with a royal family that has close links to the ruling Russian royal family supporting their bloody overthrow?! Bankers and industrialists supporting communists?! I think you’ve gone down a rabbit hole with this. The US did send troops to Russia (Siberia, so no where near any centre of influence) and this was opposed by the Bolsheviks.

I hadn’t heard of this professor so I looked at his Wikipedia page… sniff sniff!

Deciding where to play a game of football might be the least of the world's problems.

Russia invading Ukraine is not a moral debate, it is one of some dickhead who is willing to play WW3 chicken with 44m people.

Fair comment, everyone makes their own decisions. Others may see my position as a cop out and I understand that but I compartmentalise sport and politics. Many countries invade other countries or facilitate such invasions by providing arms or logistical assistance and countless deaths result from political decisions. If I were to “boycott” any country which I thought had acted immorally I wouldn’t have been to China or Russia or USA or India or Zimbabwe etc etc.

All seems a big coincidence to me with energy companies going bust left right and centre. All my opinion of course. One things for sure money is the reason behind it all. And I don’t believe a thing the media or politicians say at all

Why would Putin risk losing that by invading Ukraine? I cant help feeling that we are being fed BS just like wmd's in Iraq. Are you suggesting that the western alliance would prefer Germany to buy its gas from elsewhere ie uk, us, uae, or to put it mildly anyone but Russia. If that is what you are suggesting then we in the West are really playing with fire because Russia is not a small country with a few ak47's like Iraq. Anyway the first casualty of war is the truth.
I agree what you say at the end.....the media are paid by the politicians so one and the same really.
