What are your unpopular opinions on City that you believe 100%?

Improved when Garcia replaced Fernandinho as the 6.

Fern played in more away games than Garcia even after Christmas and the only one we lost in that period was at Liverpool. We were rubbish away no matter who played for the first 4 months or so. Negredo gets a lot of plaudits but he was no where near as good away as he was at home.

That 13/14 team was our worst title winning side in my view.

When the New ESL (or whatever they decide to call it) begins the Elite History clubs will find a way of including us but we won't get a fare share of the revenue, due to being the first ones out last time and therefore being the ones who ruined V1 or being state owned or a combo of the 2.
Whatever, I'm expecting a big stitch up.

The Etihad is not fit for purpose and the owners are short changing us by not giving us a state of the art stadium like Spurs

The owners don't give a fuck about the fans, per the numerous ticket fiascos and mistreatment of supporters.

The club has been poorly run to draw so many controversies and legal battles, let alone our inability to get the Dippers dealt with on a legal basis and PGMOL in line.

Sterling has cost us 2 CLs (Lyon and Chelsea)

Gundogan, Rodri and Bernardo should be our first choice midfield.

Our women's team should be undisputedly the best team in English football and it's a complete failure, given the developmental nature of the game, that we haven't annihilated the game with our resources and become the Liverpool/Rags in stature in the Women's game to bring on board the next generation of female fans.

The academy stadium is rubbish and too cold.
Not sure that second paragraph belongs on any thread about 'unpopular opinions'.

I have a few:
  • I don't doubt for one second there was some creative accounting going on in the early days of FFP. I also don't care because it was a corrupt rule aimed right at us.
  • I love him, but Mancini has some serious flaws as a manager. His club managerial career after City proves that. The Italian national team is perfect for him because the players aren't around long enough for him to piss them off to the point of revolt.
  • Kompany is one of my favorite players, but there was something off about him. Nothing malicious, maybe he is just a weird guy.
  • Foden is developing some troubling off the field behavior and would be getting far more criticism for that and his inconsistent year if he wasn't local. Nothing in itself is a major red flag but he just seems quite immature to me. Which on one hand is fair, on the other he's nearly 22, has kids, and a high profile professional career and needs to act like it.
  • Pearce playing James up top absolutely worked. If that had been made by a less clueless manager it would've been praised.
  • Sven was not a great manager for us. The second half of his year in charge we were absolutely miserable to watch, in relegation form, and he never adapted.
  • Mpenza was one of the most important signings in recent memory. His goals kept us up. Without them, there's no Thaskin takeover, and who knows where we'd be now.
  • If, *if*, Pep and the club brass knew about Mendy and continued to keep him in the squad, that deserves loads of criticism. There's innocent until proven guilty, and "this guy has nine rape allegations against him".
Thanks for joining my Ted Talk.

I'm all for respecting personal opinions but I'm somewhat baffled by your third bullet point. If you're aware of some dark secret concerning Vinny, then please share it with us. Otherwise, I'm not sure it's fair or appropriate to pass judgement purely based on what sounds like nothing more than a gut feeling.

I said he's one of my favorite players but seemed a bit weird, what is unfair or inappropriate about that?

I'm sure they will be unpopular. but I do believe....

Sell Raheem, we saw the best of him for 18 months, now he couldn't hit a cows arse with a Banjo - he'll never get a statue. Double up with Jesus as he will never be a striker of any value - sell him too.
Phil will end up like Gazza, a great talent wasted to being a knob / eyebrow modelling
The owners have taken the piss with 10 years of price increases / SuperLeague bollocks / Dark Fruits and the worst ticket office in history.
Mahrez is still a lazy git, FFS
Our younger fan base are resembling the ManUre wankers of old with a sense of entitlement.

Some of my "unpopular" opinions amongst other fellow City fans:

- Laporte and Stones are both more talented CBs than Dias.
- Gundo is our best midfielder
- Sterling is our best attacking player
- Yaya was the most influential signing we've made since the takeover.

What are some of your guys' unpopular opinions?
Maybe best but not most consistent.

Hughes would have delivered trophies had he been gIven longer. Anyone who signed Vinny knew what he was doing.

While we're on a roll:

The lengths some of our fans go to to defend our owners against "the media" and opposition supporters is embarrassing. There's a difference between sticking up for your football club and coming across a massive sycophant for billionaires who will never know you exist.

At the Etihad, during live games, black players on our team receive a level of criticism that's far more intense and incessant compared to the criticism our non-black players receive. Jesus Navas is the only non-black player to receive similar levels of abuse and he scored 2 goals across three seasons.

We're definitely spoilt as a fanbase now.

The "empty seats" banter is total nonsense but the jibes about our atmosphere are true. The introduction of the 3rd tier and the increase in season ticket prices since 2012 have both contributed to a less hostile, more middle class, more relaxed mood in the ground. I'm one to talk, sitting in the North Stand, but the point stands.

The club has been purposefully disconnecting itself from proper fans for years. There was a happy medium between 2009 and 2012 under Garry Cook but as soon as Ferran Soriano came in and took over the commercial side of the club, fan engagement has absolutely tanked. He doesn't give a shiny fandango about us.
Aleks got more grief than any other player and edin

I met and spoke with Vincent Kompany on a couple of occasions. I have to agree with @yankblue, he came across as a rather 'odd' and somewhat 'self-interested' character. Much like a few other foreign players I've met over the years.

Whether or not you would consider this as a 'dark secret' is up to you
