Who’s gone in the summer?

I think Mahrez has been one of our most consistent performers over the last two seasons, especially in the important games (PSG) and finally gives us a penalty taker, so I hope he extends for another couple of seasons.

Sterling is a funny one, as I suppose he holds the cards, and where else could he play in a side like ours. If he is holding out for more money, he may get it, as he is performing again, if he just wants a change of scenery, then that's down to him, then I hope we get some decent offers, and let him go in the summer.

I would keep Zinc, he is a great squad player, and can cover various roles for us.

Jesus is really at a crossroads, not helped at the moment being injured, so not able to get a run out to prove himself invaluable again. With Palmer and McAtee getting game time, he may well be let go after seasons end, because we will need to free us squad places, for hopefully Haaland and Alvarez, and any other reinforcements.

Jesus will be gone I think as his game time is less what with injuries etc . Jesus likes to play on the wing but we brought him as a striker in a role were even Though he has scored lots of goals he hasn’t set the world on fire . I would sell him . As for sterling I still don’t think he deserves a contract like kdb but he is playing well so he may stay with us . Mahrez will not be going Either as he has been one of our best this season .

With Mendy unlikely to be registered in the squad and Fernandinho at this point not looking likely to renew his contract, this will leave the squad with 19 of this seasons squad, not including club trained players like Foden. That leaves two places open, with one potentially going to Alvarez who may join up with the 1st team squad in the summer. Then that leaves one for a Centre Forward potentially.

If Alvarez joins up and a CF, we will be top heavy in forwards, so no doubt some of the forward line will be moved on. Not to mention moving on a player or two from the forward line allows us to replace Fernandinho and perhaps bring in a fullback if the club feels we need another.

Its a tough one because i like jesus and so does pep then there is sterling back to form again and looking happier.same as laporte and bernardo but like pep has already stated if players want to leave then they must leave.so see what happens in the summer.

why have you gone with 21 spots?

With a potential 64 games to play plus internationals and a world cup, retirements aside, I doubt anyone will leave out of the current first team squad.

In a squad of 25 at least 4 spots must be taken by ‘Club trained players’. Foden this season does not take up any of the extra 4 ‘club trained‘ spots until next season, as currently still considered an academy player under FIFA, UEFA , FA rules. The fact Foden takes up 1 of the minimum 4 club trained spots next season will not affect players coming in.

That leaves City able to fill 21 spots utilised from a squad made up of max 17 non-homegrown spots in squad + minimum of 4 homegrown spots (Association trained but non-club trained) allowed in squad, but not more than 21 from these two categories. As we currently have 6 Association homegrown players, that reduces the number of non-homegrown players allowed in squad to 15.

ahb rright i see what you've done. wondered where the assocation spots came in. still gonna be tight for CL i think

Have to look at it by position. Start with Goalkeepers...

Ederson & Steffen will be back. Thought Steffen would be interested in starting elsewhere but he'll stay at least next season after extending. Either bring Carson back for a year or Muric. If Carson is back can probably sell Muric and then loan out Bazunu and Trafford again.

Fullbacks: Cancelo and Walker are going nowhere. Could potentially bring back Porro and keep Cancelo on the left but my guess would be we'll either loan him out or sell for a profit. Loan out both Cuoto and Kabore again. LB will be interesting as they could buy one and keep Zin + loan JWE, buy one and sell Zin + promote JWE, or buy none and promote JWE (seems the least likely). OZ's desires will have to play into the decision either way.

Centrebacks: Dias and Stones going nowhere. Laporte would have to force a move, and he seems more settled than this time last summer. Ake I think would either have to be his wishes or an offer we can't refuse. Could easily see all four still being here next season. Not sure if any of the youngsters would be ready to come in and be fourth choice, but could be a big season for one or more of them to emerge on loan. Between THB, Mbete, Doyle, Burns think all four should be on loan in the Championship or better.

Midfield: Rodri, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Gundogan, Foden, McAtee will all be here. Gundo's contract will be heading to it's last year but think Pep would rather lose him on a free than sell him this summer, don't think he'd fetch a ton anyway given his age. Have to think Fern retires and then either we bring in a backup DM, drop Gundogan deeper for a year, and/or promote Lavia.

Forwards: Grealish and Palmer will be here. Obviously Mahrez/Sterling/Jesus coming down to their final year. I think City would rather keep Mahrez and risk losing him for free as a 32 year old than getting rid this summer. Do think one of Jesus/Sterling will leave with Alvarez and possibly another striker coming in. Think a loan to a lower PL team or decent Championship side would be best for Delap.

Loan out: Bazunu, Trafford, Kabore, Cuoto, Aguilar, Harwood-Bellis, Doyle, Burns, Mbete, (possibly) Wilson-Esbrand, (possibly) Lavia, Robertson, Doyle, Rosa, Knight, Fiorini, Braaf, (possibly) Kayky, Bobb, Delap, Edozie, Rodgers, P. Moreno, Sarmiento, Stefanovic.

Contract Expiry: Fernandinho, (possibly) Carson
Possible First Team Sales: Ake, Zinchenko, Sterling/Jesus
Unlikely Sales: Laporte, Gundogan, Mahrez
Loan Army Sales: Porro, Herrera, Itakura, Tedic, Palaversa, M. Moreno, Meshino, Bustos, Agyepong, Mohammed, Gomes.

Squad:
Ederson, Steffen, Carson/Muric
Walker, Cancelo, 2 of (new LB/Zinchenko/JWE)
Dias, Laporte, Stones, Ake
Rodri, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Silva, Foden, McAtee, Lavia
Mahrez, Sterling/Jesus, Grealish, Palmer, Alvarez, new ST

why would cancelo be on his way out,he just got new contract
He’s been playing a lot at LB and a bit at RB since Walker has been a naughty boy. It would be a surprise but if we signed a LB and he was left to compete for that RB spot with a well behaved Walker who has sworn off the brasses and red cards.........who knows
