It was part of it, but only part. People who said “This is all on Pep” (and some normally quite astute people said that, to my surprise — I could be wrong, but I seem to remember being dismayed by Steven @twosips saying as much, and I usually find what he says makes good sense), now that really is rubbish. The whole team froze. Even Kev wasn’t delivering before the hatchet job on him. All that was airbrushed out after the event.

Not that I want to relive this but Team 1 features Fern and Rodri so rule that out.

Team 2 was 3/5 at the back with no creative midfielder so rule that out.

Team 3 had no holding midfielder.

Not one of those teams is our standard 4-3-3 with one DM, 2 CM/AM

We lost all 3.
 
If we could choose one to be our striker now I’d pick Tevez over Aguero

Even if we do usual formation, we still lost. Many of our key player this season is not that good toward the end of last season like Cancelo replaced by Zinchenko because fall of form, same case also Rodri is falling form eventually being benched and Bernardo being average throughout of season.

If we put those three form based on this season we will have higher chance to win CL Final last year.

I suggest you go and watch the game again. See who the guy is playing in front of our back 4.
Gundogan had played holding midfield successfully for Pep before.
Our players froze and Chelsea played well.
3 versions of the team. Same outcome. But its all down to Pep. Zero credit given to Chelsea who played exactly the same game against us each time with similar outcome. But if only he had done x, y or z. Just wish folk would get over it and stop making lazy excuses.
 
Aguero's decline as a player started already in 2018. He was still a top, top striker in home games (scored vital goals in big games at the Etihad, especially that goal vs Liverpool in January 2019 was absolutely fantastic), but he was a bit ordinary away from home after 17/18 and especially after 18/19. Pep must have known Kun wasn't good enough to start big games away from home (that's why he benched him vs Real), but he continued to play him in the PL (Kun started most big games away from home in 19/20 and did nothing in them). I guess Pep didn't want to rock the boat back then.

Aguero and Fernandinho were a bit too old to rely on them to turn things around in the CL final. In hindsight, Torres and Rodri would have been better options, because they are big lads and could have helped with their physical presence in the box in the final 10-20 minutes. Pep probably preferred better leadership on the pitch over more physicality: that was probably a wrong decision, though. Our biggest problem in the CL final was that we couldn't match Chelsea's physicality. We got better when Jesus was subbed in, and could have been even better with Rodri and Torres instead of Ferna and Kun. But imagine the criticisms had Pep subbed in Rodri and Torres instead of Ferna and Kun and City still lost the game!
 
I really love Micah, deserved his medals, but his performance in the 1-0 defeat at Sunderland in 2013-14 (one of several) was the worst display I've ever seen.

3 seasons later, Kolarov's performance at Sunderland was the best I've ever seen, Beckenbaueresque.
 
"Champions of England, we know what we are" is a fucking shit song. The "we know what we are" comes from Chelsea fans singing "Anton Ferdinand you know what you are" after John Terry racially abused him and they blindly defended him and we shouldn't sing it. And it's just shit.

We're the only fanbase in the country that still does the Soccer AM "easy easy easy" after we score and its fucking terrible.

John Stones and Kevin de Bruyne are the only current first team player players I can imagine being sound in real life.

Most of the songs we sing are of players who have gone from the club. What the players on the pitch think I don't know. We really need some good new songs for the players that are on the field now!

It's not lazy. The team selection was wrong to start. The players didn't perform but they were set up to fail. Argh... Im reliving this nightmare all over again!!

Totally agree, the football we played in the 2013/14 season isn't always given the credit it should have been given, we were fantastic at times. (the 3:0 you mention against United was every bit as good a performance as the 6;1)
Although it did go to the last match obviously there wasn't the drama of 2 years previously. However that last month of 13/14 was one of the best finishes to a Premier League season (Chelsea and to a lesser extent Arsenal were both in with a shout until last few weeks) where we really held our nerve. The likes of Ya Ya, Zaba, Komps, Nasri (such a frustrating player),in particular were exceptional.
True , Gerrard did slip and they panicked big time at Palace which helped us. However in the respective away games we pretty much handed our main rivals Chelsea and Liverpool their winning goals due to defensive fuck ups.
We weren't lucky that season inspite of what the media (surprise, surprise??) reckoned ,we were very good. We weren't nearly as good again until Peps 2nd season 4 years later.
Every time we've won the league we've fully deserved it. The same as every time we've got relegated we've also got what we deserved!!
