It’s not weird at all. You got to India and they all have chips with their curry.

What kind of monster has gravy with rice?

Half chips half rice and gravy, it's a northern thing. Used to gave it regularly in the 80s, and when i was feeling a bit flush id have a Hollands meat pie on top.

Might be from a bit before my time then. Never known anyone to have gravy with rice.

Used to have pudding, chips, rice and gravy in the 80’s, still occasionally have it now while wearing a pair of Farah’s for old times sake.

Had this regularly back in the eighties. Curry sauce, half and half, was the order at the Chinese, proper chippies back then wouldn’t do rice and probably not curry sauce either. Easy order to remember after a long session! When we order a Chinese takeaway these days we get chips with one meal, egg fried rice with the other, then share.

But it’s never done at a sit down meal, unless you’re common as muck.

I am a northerner and I’ve never heard of rice and gravy in my life. It sounds revolting.

Who hasn't had curry rice,chips and a buttered muffin from the Chinese chippy.

Much prefer a buttered Barm with my Curry,rice and chips.

Rice with curry or chinese no chips that's wrong. Chips with fish or pie,salt and vinegar, no curry sauce that's wrong too.

Always get chips with a chinese takeaway has to be the Chinese style chips though, guaranteed by avoiding the establishments that also sell fish and chips.

Chips with chinese curry or something like a tikka massala from a jar, work well if cooking at home. But anything more complicated in terms of flavour, it's just a waste to throw in chips.

But it’s never done at a sit down meal, unless you’re common as muck.
