Poorest performance of his in a long while. And I stress 'long', because he's usually excellent. Probably an off-day for him, happens to the best.

That’s a bloody harsh take after what he has delivered in his City career so far.

I don't think it’s harsh at all. Overrated is not calling him shit or not good enough, it’s pointing out he’s not an elite defender.

He’s come into a side that was awful defensively and was a big part of the reason we became a solid defensive unit that went on to win the league.

Because of his leadership and communication skills rather than his defensive ability which this season has been left exposed.

He has qualities that are vital to us but it’s not for his ability.

The entire defense was shit, not just him.

All 4 of them made errors constantly on transitions.

Said this just last week, it's him that should be worried about Stones taking his place not Laporte. Making too many errors lately and all over the place today. Stones and Laporte for Everton, he can spend some time out of the side and hopefully rediscover his concentration levels.

Worst game for us that. He looked completely disjointed from everyone around him.

Lack of pace? easily exposed at times.
I think it’s more than just that mate, seems much more indecisive/hesitant and. I’ve noticed anything going just over his head or behind him and he has to turn and try and make contact or control it he really struggles.

I guess some players are naturally more comfortable playing slightly from the left or the right, even if it’s a matter of 10/20 yards or so, Laporte is similar on the right (worse actually the few times I’ve seen him having to play there).

Not as commanding this season as he was last season. not sure why, last season he was really dominant and he made the defence very strong. this season to be hones i dont feel too much difference between Laporte, Dias, Stones. All of them had iffy games, bu generally good ones.

defensive stats are still great club level.

So we have discovered he is not the finished article. Which central defender is at 24? Kompany certainly was not. If anything, his sporadic errors this year makes even more incredible what he did last year. He seems a studious, intelligent chap so I am sure he will go back to basics and recover his poise. Can't believe some of the comments here - hero to zero based on a couple of poor games - jeez.
