Awol for Vinicius Jr goal in first leg
Gave away pen last night
A lot of Madrid's threat came from his bad positioning.

Also he's our biggest cb physically(or might just be the size too small shirts?) But is easily the worst aerially

Won 56% of his aerial duels
Stones - 82%
Ake - 72%
Laporte - 61%

To be fair he’s coming back from an injury. I’m pretty sure Laporte had a worse two games than Dias.

When Ruben arrived he's was a no nonsense out and out defender. Since he's been integrated into Pep's footballing style, leaks have started to appear. Not his fault, just a trade off and it finds us wanting.

Interesting point. I was putting down his poor form on being due to returning from injury, but could his defensive qualities be being coached out of him almost? Possibly I guess.

Think i made the point on here last season that he was a tad over rated. Yes he deserved all the accolades he got then for a great debut season, but too many last ditch tackles and blocks suggested to me he was a defender who didn't read the game that well.
I'm not saying he should be dropped or sold, he'll still be a good player for us, but was poor last night and against Spurs in the league defeat. There's a mistake in him.

If we're waiting around for a defender who doesn't make mistakes then we're going to end up extremely disappointed.

He's got everything I'd want in terms of the foundations of a great defender and I'm not sure he does have a problem with reading the game. On the other hand I think he has a problem with wanting to be the guy who puts his body on the line and saves his team with blocks and tackles.

But he's 24, which makes him our youngest centreback by some distance and I'd be very surprised if he doesn't have the attitude to learn from his mistakes. He's also improved on the passing side of his game since he's joined.

That Rodrygo is 5 8" . Dias never even leaves the ground. then gives away the penalty.
Truly awful last night, when we needed a leader he vanished.

Harsh....he was leading from the front with his blocks and tackles and his vocal encouragement. This lad is our best Captain since Vinny,he should not be exempt from criticism but lets have some perspective.

As for the penalty,it wasnt one.

It probably was a pen. But we love a scapegoat at City.
Wow.

We’re all upset this morning and most people will think he wasn’t at his best but this comment is way over the top.
Neil warnock, who I rarely agree with, said something this morning about City’s defending that I did agree with. City’s fullbacks at the end of the game didn’t get out to stop their crossing into the box once. Once Walker went off we didn’t look as assured at the back.

Can't see why he's being blamed for the header? I'm under the view that the man infront should be responsible for Rodrygo not the man behind (Dias).

The penalty was rash but his aggressive style of play saves much more goals in general than it causes for me, but i'll give the benefit of the doubt as he's just come back from a long injury and has been excellent in big moments previously

For me, why do you make that challenge in the box at that moment in the game when Benzema is going away from goal? Just seemed extremely rash and for me it was a clear penalty.
