€100m back up??
To replace Fernandinho?
I'm struggling to understand why Rice wouldn't want to join us? Does he want to win the Premier League? Does he want to play regularly in the Champs League and compete to win it? Does he want to work with one of the best coaches the sport has ever seen? Does he want to develop his game to become a more complete player and maximise his potential? Does he want to play alongside some of the best players in world football? What else is he looking for in a new club?He is not just being used as backup player, i'm sure with his potential versatility playing in multiple position (The kind player Pep wants for his player). He will have enough game time for us.
I also said time and time again price tag will not be a problem for us as seen by Grealish case, if Pep wants him then board makes sure they will get for him even at 100m because board rarely disagree with Pep wish.
The question is, will he really want to join us?

Seems a good lad and if he wants to stay in his home city who would blame him? We have to accept not everyone wants the Rainey City, family and friends are an important factor.Lifelong fan and former youth player at Chelsea, who will probably have both the vacancy and the means to fill it
Seems like committed to London. To Chelsea? He is not just being used as backup player, i'm sure with his potential versatility playing in multiple position (The kind player Pep wants for his player). He will have enough game time for us.

Tbf I think you will find Chelsea FC and their fans probably think the same.I reckon we’ll sign Declan Rice this summer, he’s the perfect player for us and English as well…
Rice came through Chelsea academy with his best friend Mason Mount. Chelsea would be his preferred destination.Agree but he clearly is a London boy through and through and seems to badly want to go to Chelsea.
I know and even if he wanted to come I would be reluctant, he clearly is very much a London boy and clearly he is very close to his family.Rice came through Chelsea academy with his best friend Mason Mount. Chelsea would be his preferred destination.
Yes, probably. I’d imagine Abramovich’s position is resolved by summer, and still even if not, it’s not stopped anyone coming to City (that we know of) given the press noise around UAE.Will any player want to go to Chelsea with what’s going on with there owner.
I understand your theory, but who of our current midfield, would we want to have less game time, to give Rice the opportunity? Fernandinho and Gundogan are the obvious choices, but they have only had twenty league starts between both of them currently. It would be different if someone left, but if that was only Ferna, I would preder KDB, Rodri, Bernardo to start over Rice.He is not just being used as backup player, i'm sure with his potential versatility playing in multiple position (The kind player Pep wants for his player). 150m for Rice? Someone's taking the piss. Rice, or Haaland for 60-odd million (plus dad and the agent's slice of the cake)?
