Russian invasion of Ukraine

Was listening to the business news earlier and it was said that banning them from swift, which many are calling for would heap as much harm in ourselves as it would them.

Still, sanctions are meaningless unless they really do hurt and we have to accept the hurt ourselves.
Boris is behaving like a parent that sanctions a child for misbehaving with the threat of withdrawing hugs.

You never know somebody else's situation, mate.

I have suffered from panic attacks and anxiety for a number of years but recently decided to get help from the Doc.

Been put on 50mg daily of Sertraline to try and calm me down/sleep after all the stresses of losing business during Covid.

In to my second week of taking it and a few side effects and little improvement yet, but know I need to stick with it.

An anti-depressant but hoping it ticks a few boxes for me.

Don't suffer in silence mate, I've done CBT and all sorts to try and get through the fog.
Stick with it mate. It works.

So sanctions against 3 Russians with not much investment here and Banks that won't be that badly affected, meanwhile other Russians that have heavily invested in the UK (and donated to the tories) are left alone.

Pointless

Best wishes to you mate. My wife has been on Sertraline for years - I think its's Prozac - and it totally sorted her out.

The bad times always end.

Thanks Tolmie, I wouldn’t normally open my soul on here, I have a history of panic attacks whilst driving, not good for someone who is a light haulage driver, if I get stuck in traffic I feel “trapped” and the attack begins but they come on at anytime. My anxiety was through the roof so I self referred myself to the NHS for treatment, I’ve had the initial consultation’s and get my first session shortly. You may remember I look after my elderly (89) Dad, he’s become much more demanding and that’s not helping. In fact the first question asked by the anxiety counsellor after my personal details was “do you care for anyone” apparently it’s a major player towards stress.

Thanks for your kind words and advice, hope you and your family are well, I remember you had a bad case of Covid, thanks.
Best wishes to you too, Blue.

I have been on anti-depressants for the last 20 years for generalised anxiety disorder. They saved my life many times and allowed me to function as normal as I could.

You will feel better and better from here.. and if worse comes to worse definitely try others or different dosages. One medication works for one person but maybe not the next, I tweaked mine many times and ended up finding Zoloft worked well for me

That's not why we defended the island.

That makes no sense.

Argentina invaded UK territory and it was defended. There was almost no support in the Falklands for Argentinian control. Argentina gambled that the UK wouldn't react for some sheep and a base thousands of miles away and were a weaker force than the UK response.

Russia agreed (under 20 years ago) to respect the sovereign borders of Ukraine and is blatantly ignoring that. The people aren't being threatened or invaded, they just live and have lived for a long time in Ukraine. 'Going to their aid' is how propaganda would describe it - the people didn't revolt by themselves, they were supported by a foreign power.

We went because the Falklands is a British overseas territory and your attempt to equate what we did and what Putin is doing is laughable.

We held claim to / and defended the Falklands to stop Argentina extending its international waters and claiming the oil and gas rights.... no other reason.
