Russian invasion of Ukraine

I really can't understand a very wealthy man thinking let's start something that will destabilise the world and potentially lead to his ousting / his death or half the world being blown up by nuclear weapons.
Just sit their quietly with your millions and enjoy the rest of your life spending it quietly....

The only good thing about this is we actually know what Russia is going to do before they do it.
Allowing Russia to spend 10% of GDP on the military for the last 15 years without rearming ourselves was clearly stupid in the extreme.

An absolute carbon copy to the playbook of how Germany (Nazi Germany) invaded Poland. But this time we won't get involved. Ukraine are knackered and the West are going to let it happen and Putin knows it.

I don't know what NATO could do, no one wants a war but we haven't started this. If he goes for Ukraine, what else will he go for?
thats the big question. Will he pick one eastern european country off after another and what line does he need to breach before the west become more actively involved. And what will be China's next move after this flagrant disregard for International law?

Putin's history lesson from Monday translated into this grafik:

Putin only accepts the blue core as Ukraine.
This is a pre-justification for the action to be expected soon.
If he wants to play that one - going back to Kievan Rus which was modern day Ukraine Belarus and a little bit of Russia and Muscovite Rus which went up into Scandinavia and Arkhangelsk Oblast- we can look back at Siberia and the entire rest of North Asia and say that before the 1600s, none of that was part of Russia, so Russia can be scaled right back to what Kievan Rus and Muscovite Rus was.

You could probably say that from Poland and Lithuania and Finland borders in the West to the Carpathian and Caucus Mountains in the South and not even as far as to the Ural Mountains in the East… that’s historical Russia so that’s all they can have.

A lot of Siberians would like independence anyway so they can have that.

A big mistake for us to try and take Putin out that would lead to all out war, it has to come from inside and let them deal with it.

It’s weird that people think we could do it if we wanted to. The US spent decades trying to get rid of Castro and failed hundreds of times.

The only way out is to wage economic war on Russia’s people and the oligarchs until Putins support is undermined. NATO has the power to do it, our governments just don’t seem to have the willpower.

Once you have money and power all you have left to attain is a legacy.

To putin his legacy to him is restoring russia to it's former glory and teritory.

He will be remembered by many as a great despot, to others as a hero of the motherland, histirical legacy achieved.

He praises him for being a smart cookie and seeing his chance. Not for what he is doing.

You are fucking deluded.

“I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine – of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful,”

We've got people over here that still thinks Bozo Boris is still worse than Putin. Honestly, some people would have Hitler, Stalin and Mao in charge with a back bench of 70's kids presenters if it meant getting the Tories out.

Our own ruling party is hamstring to an extent thanks to its reliance on russian money. So before we start pointing fingers and saying what we think leftists would do to get the Tories out, maybe look at what the Tories have done to get themselves in.

Furthermore, if you pay closer attention, it's right populists fanboying over Russia these days, not Momentum members.

Trump doesn't like Ukraine he gives not one fuck about them, He's shown his colours umpteen times on Putin. He's on record believing Putin over his own security advisers. He's getting dogs abuse about these comments as folk know exactly what he means.

Trumps lack of vocabulary also never ceases to amaze me.

'Big army tanks'.... jesus christ.
