Anyone know what happened to this?

Am sure Pep/the club said we’d get him over for a testimonial or some sort of event for the fans so we can give him a proper send off.

His last game for us was behind closed doors and there’s no way they can just leave it at that surely.

It was supposed to be a DSilva and Kun double event, but I don’t think it’ll happen anymore.

I don't think the fans will forgive the club if they don't have a major event in recognition of their value to City.

It will happen at some point.

I can understand if Sergio can’t play for obvious reasons but it’s a disgrace if the club just let them trudge off into the sunset.

I know there’s the statues etc but that’s not the same thing at all.

Vincent’s testimonial and Zabba’s last game were properly emotional, important occasions and Silva deserves the same.

I went to the Kompany testamonial. It was my first and only testimonial match and it was the most boring thing ever.

I love David Silva - got a huge framed picture of him on my front room wall - but I've got very little interest in going to this. Not that he shouldn't have one, give the man anything he wants - but dear lord the last one was boring as fuck.

Can't beat a last min equalizer from big Benjani.

Was disappointed with us trotting out Anderlecht youngsters though, hopefully if Kun and Silva have one we have a few more legends out there.

Perhaps his playing commitments to Sociedad might have a little something to do with it...

If he has one, I'll be there because he's the greatest player we've ever seen but testimonials are a bit shit really aren't they? He's also a very understated man, comes across as the type that probably wouldnt even want one. I'd be content with city bringing him out pre-match at the first game after he eventually retires.

Yeah, I left just after h/t. Obviously wasn’t helped by Vinnie being out but those matches are usually beyond shite.

Many never forgave the club for not giving Neil Young a testimonial.
David and Kun are multi multi millionaires and the reason why they haven't been given one is obvious - both players know how much they are adored and always will be.

I'm not sure why people are confused why something hasn't been done yet. We've been in a global pandemic for 2 years which made it impossible to organise anything like this, and it's only now that things look like they're properly returning to normal.
And he plays for Real Sociedad

Agree with this, times have changed from when fans would turn out to watch any game and players needed the money.

By all means have one but there needs to be some thought on when and why we put these games on. For the likes of Silva and Aguero yes. But then if we dont have another for 10 years then great.

The money raised is given to charities of their choice these days, rather than being seen as a gold watch.

Well there’s some miserable wankers on this thread.

I went to Vinny’s and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s not about the spectacle of the game, it’s about waving off a generational club legend and seeing a few old faces.

I was hoping the club would get Mancini to manage the city legends 11 but no, they really were that petty not to…

I went to it, and like most testimonials it was a boring as fook.

Didn't help that the big man was injured too.

For me, Vinnys testimonial game was when he hit the screamer and walked around the pitch in tears, we all knew.

I wish I could have seen Kun play for his last match in the Prem for us, but no luck in the ballot. Same with not being able to see Dave's last game for us due to lockdown.

So I'd go to this when it happens, just for the chance to bid then farewell.
