Russian invasion of Ukraine

and that is no suprise to anyone.

Russians know the consequences for protesting but they know they must.
Hiding in silence will only empower Putin more.

Plenty of dead martyrs. The main point being, it would take a million Russian people on the streets to effect any type of twitch from Putin.

Your regular person, Russian or not, would not put them or their family in harms way.

We have already seen in the space of ten hours, tens of thousands flocking Kyiv, despite it being their proud homeland.

They are doing what is right for them and their families.

So many people seem to underestimate Putin and the powerbase he has built?

This guy acts from a position of absolute strength and cares little for collateral damage.

This is a country where Stalin killed 20 million of his own to maintain power.

Russia isn't your average land, it has known and is capable of equal horrors.

Was weird, it came on my phone automatically after watching another video, and it’s basically everything I feel about NATO, the US and the current situation. I’ll have a look for some more, are the others worth a listen?
Yeah , the guys John Meirsheimer , political scientist . A lot of the youtube vids go over similar ground , but interesting to listen to .

Question - how long will Putin be able to rely upon a largely conscript army fighting a guerilla war for a worthless pay which they have little at home to spend it on?

Biggest mobilisation of troops since world war 2. Incredible scenes that we are seeing as Russia goes about its business destroying Ukraine. What do you think the end gane will be ? I think he will put his own government in .
You mean the government who the Russians say was illegally ousted in the 2014 coup and fled to Russia? Or a different one?

You being right does not mean it is a good idea when you live in a dictatorship with very harsh secret police who make you disappear now is it
I think that in every country there will be people who are brave enough to form a "resistance." Especially now.
Very brave people.

Have you seen the video at the Jewish/holocaust museum in Berlin?
There were Polish people in Warsaw still fighting amongst that devestation and rubble, even years after their City was pretty much annihilated.
The human spirit to protect and survive is immense.

They've always been 'a little rough round the edges'. Drank and raped their way across Europe in ww2 but we turned a blind eye because they did most of the killing and dying too.

Of course it is and, as you say above, there will always be people brave enough, but people are kidding themselves if they are anticipating millions of Russians now taking to the streets to overthrow Putin.

He will want to put in a government that is sympathetic to the Russians. Didn’t think he would have gone in tbh .

I agree. That won't happen. Not in public at least. Yet I believe there will be those who are brave enough to undermine in any way they can.
All power to them, I'm sure we all agree
