Well given the last 24 hours...I couldn't for the life of me work out why Ukraine would want to be part of NATO. Certainly no threats in that part of the world...

We should be careful believing twitter posts like this, I doubt there is any evidence they were all "killed", as if the island was attacked the only people there now will be russians.
They might well have told the russian ship "go fuck yourself", but they may now all be on said ship under confinement, or even still on the island under confinement.
Lets hope so anyway.
Fair enough, I did cross reference it with other reports and it looked legit enough.
President of Ukraine confirmed it too (of course he could be lying).

My point really was that if (and it probably was) the island was taken, then there will likely be no evidence they were killed, they're just silent now.
Hopefully they showed some bollocks over the airwaves, then when confronted by many more fighters, they did the sensible thing and surrendered, lets face it that small lump of rock wasn't worth dying for.
If they were killed it would be a war crime, unless they engaged until the end, which would have been pointless, and sad.

If true, that's very sad, and also totally unnecessary for such a small lump of rock that has little or no significance in the grand scheme of things.
I'll keep my hopes up that they surrendered and are still alive.

As unsettling as Putin is, he's not the overriding threat to world stability.........the Chinese sitting in the background and Trump as next President are.
The Chinese will gradually take control by stealth and manipulation and not waste money and valuable resources on needless wars. They have a vast military and like Putin, they will use that as a 'dare to stop us', intimidation tactic. They'll be like a big Boa Constrictor, just squeeze and squeeze.
Trump would divide and weaken their most powerful adversary to pave the way for them.
As with Russia, we have been keen to assist building them up and we will pay dearly as a consequence.

The firm behind the eurovision song contest has refused to ban Russia, claiming its a non-political event. Get fucked! What a shitty stance to take. When one country invades another for no legitimate reason there's no neutrality, you take action against them in whatever way you can or you're accepting it.
Whilst it obviously has zero impact on Russia or Ukraine either way, its the piss poor message it sends out. I can see an occupied Ukraine being normalised by the west within a very short period despite all the bluster that may suggest differently.

I feel like things like this do have an impact. Millions of Russians are interested in Eurovision and excluding them is a quick sanction that will make them take notice. Many of the economic sanctions the west are imposing will take a long time to affect them. Exclude them from sporting events, cultural events, ban them from traveling to your country and basically make life miserable for them so maybe they'll do something about their murdering thug dictator.
