Russian invasion of Ukraine

Good on 'em. Was wondering what they'd do.

These Russian companies seriously now need to put pressure on Putin; he's made these businesses all a pariah of the world.

Putins timing makes perfect sense, Trump would have fought fire with fire, Biden is heading for full time care and Boris cannot manage himself let alone the Uk.

Impotent long term enemies who he has clearly told to do one while he expands and secures his empire.

I thought we'd left all this nucleur war shit behind. Back in the early 80s when I was at school, it was a big talking point for many of us. We'd mull over our chances of survival if it ever happened and invariably come to the conclusion that we'd all be fucked. And when The Day After was screened on UK TV, seemingly everyone was discussing it the following day in school.

I used to laugh at some of the extremes the Doomsday Preppers went to but maybe they had it right after all!

Europe currently won’t fuck them off from SWIFT, hopefully soon. Putin has stockpiled £650bn of gold, he was expecting this, he will sell it to whoever and this gives him time to sue an illegal war against Ukraine. This is what makes sanctions slow burning, we have to erode his savings before they bite.

We also need to be careful not to isolate the Russian people who don’t appear to want this war either if our media reports are to be believed. Basically there are 2 people who want this war, Putin and his western spokesperson, @bluesteel ;)
I don’t want this war, what the fuck are you talking about?

I said NATO have created this mess, and I stand by that.

There are a lot of people here who are clearly very simple. The world needs a political resolution to this, some on here don’t appreciate how dangerous this is…. “kick them out of everything”, “assassinate Putin” you do realise that if that were to happen or happen and fail, WE ARE ALL DEAD. They have 6000+ nuclear weapons, if Russia are backed into a corner, or they’re in a position where they’ve “lost” I’m convinced they’ll use them.

Look, they were losing a political war, so they turned it into a military war, we’ve started an economic war, trust me, they’ll turn it into a nuclear war, when their people are on the streets starving, I have no doubt that he’ll press that red button from a sub somewhere for what the west have done to the Russian people.

They test launched two ICMB’s the days before they invaded Ukraine for fucks sake.

Why would trump make a stand and fight his bestie?

trump is just hot air, and had no clout in any geo-political terms, other than being boorish bully achieving nothing.

Interesting theories. Can you explain for the uninitiated why you think NATO has 'created this miss'. To my untrained eye Putin is a megalomaniac but I remain open minded. Just trying to understand this whole situation.

Plain white in today's testing session. Usually it had Russia's flag all over it!

One thing I would ask is whether western countries will be willing to put up with sanctions for how long when we also start to feel the impact?

Make no mistake, sanctions on Russia will start to hurt us here at some point and it'll be interesting to see how much bottle we have.

Things are bad enough as it is...inflation etc...pandemic debt........I fear how people can afford energy costs from now on.

Feels like we are going back in time. No heating, Hiding from the rent man and fear of war.

Putin has to be stopped, we can’t have the world plunged back into a time where despots could just invade their neighbours or play nuclear brinksmanship and he’s made it clear he isn’t going to stop at Ukraine, especially if the world doesn’t make a stand now.

I would rather pay an extra 15p/L for petrol than see us sending soldiers over to fight his next war.

Its Gas and Leccy I'm more concerned about for the really poor sections of society or those just about managing. It's all happening without this invasion.
