Russian invasion of Ukraine

Interesting theories. Can you explain for the uninitiated why you think NATO has 'created this miss'. To my untrained eye Putin is a megalomaniac but I remain open minded. Just trying to understand this whole situation.
I think you're the umpteenth person to ask that question to them.

Be interesting if you get a decent reply.

Europe currently won’t fuck them off from SWIFT, hopefully soon. Putin has stockpiled £650bn of gold, he was expecting this, he will sell it to whoever and this gives him time to sue an illegal war against Ukraine. This is what makes sanctions slow burning, we have to erode his savings before they bite.

We also need to be careful not to isolate the Russian people who don’t appear to want this war either if our media reports are to be believed. Basically there are 2 people who want this war, Putin and his western spokesperson, @bluesteel ;)
I think they’ve used a fair chunk of those gold reserves in just one day yesterday to prop up their stock market.

I don’t want this war, what the fuck are you talking about?

I said NATO have created this mess, and I stand by that.

There are a lot of people here who are clearly very simple. The world needs a political resolution to this, some on here don’t appreciate how dangerous this is…. “kick them out of everything”, “assassinate Putin” you do realise that if that were to happen or happen and fail, WE ARE ALL DEAD. They have 6000+ nuclear weapons, if Russia are backed into a corner, or they’re in a position where they’ve “lost” I’m convinced they’ll use them.

Look, they were losing a political war, so they turned it into a military war, we’ve started an economic war, trust me, they’ll turn it into a nuclear war, when their people are on the streets starving, I have no doubt that he’ll press that red button from a sub somewhere for what the west have done to the Russian people.

They test launched two ICMB’s the days before they invaded Ukraine for fucks sake.

You auditioning for a slot on RT?

Is it a coincidence that those 3 countries rely on Russian gas supplies more than most other EU nations?

It sounds good on paper to just say cut Russia off, but it's not as clear cut when you depend on them. Most people just look at things from a simplistic point of view. If you were Italy why would you just go along with all the measures if it has a massive impact on your own country?

Nope, dealing with a gangster like Putin makes you very exposed and at worst complicit in his crimes as your trade allows him to continue. Sadly the UK is little different, London is awash with dirty Russian money. I didn't see many Russian Oligarchs deported from the UK yesterday. But hey we flew the Ukranian flag and Johnson uttered some empty words about standing side by side.

The quicker Europe becomes self sufficient in energy supply (or at least not reliant so heavily on Russia) the less ‘influence’ they will have. Europe has sleep-walked into a situation where Putin feels totally in control

I’d probably not bother mate when his answer to end the suffering of starving Russians is to wipe them out in nuclear conflict with the west. It’s sentimental bollocks, Putin doesn’t give a flying fuck about the Russian people - never has, never will.

The problem is these days is the more desperate we make the situation for Russia in the end, the more likely the nutter is going to press the red button.

A new Europe wide war, which will be a new World War if the Chinese enter, will be the end of humanity as we know it, as no side can possibly lose.

The only thing I think we can do is make the situation bad for the Russian state, enough so they stop but leave the door open for negotiations.

This balancing act is going to be incredibly hard to get right.

Putin has done something here that is incredibly dangerous for the whole world and to suggest he’s overstepped the mark is a colossal understatement.

Biden let slip last night but despite all the sanctions, energy payments to Russia are still going ahead which to me makes a bit of a mockery out of the sanctions and tells us all how much of Europe is desperate for Russian gas and oil.

We have to take the hit and stop any payments and we have to source it from elsewhere.

How dare we do business and keep the lines of communication open with a country that stated it wasn't interested in land grabs anymore and wanted to be commercial with the West.
But, yes - would be nice to be self-sufficient but if all counties were to think insularly it might not be the healthiest for relationships.

Just seen Khan from Pakistan meeting with Putin yesterday, how the fuck can anyone be meeting with this bastard, the west should make it clear there are sides here and if you side with him you will be held accountable as well. We send foreign aid to these countries, immediately stop that now.

It was nothing about support for the war. Just bad timing. We Indians are having a laugh at his stupidity.
