Russian invasion of Ukraine

If they’ve got sufficient ammo that’s the case. Optimally they have the ability to fire laws javelin etc from every corner of every building over 10 floors in which case all 15k Russian tanks could be burnt scrap metal.
Or petrol bombs

I’d describe myself as a centrist Labour voter, a *gasp* “Blairite”.

But fuck me I’m glad Corbyn isn’t PM, and I think Johnson is a complete insult to the history and respect that job commands.
Appreciate the full and frank admission mate, good on you. Exactly where I am as a stance and no shame in it. Everything you say is correct

Also i understand why Putin wants to recreate the Greater Russian federation, they were an amazingly powerful nation who we would not have won WW2 without. He wants the same as the likes of some UK politicians and some US politicians want.........Make ,,,,,,,,,,great again. Its Nationalistic bullshit and he is no different to Trump or Johnson in that regard.

If Putin wanted that then he could have achieved it easily. Russia is a massive country with an abundance of natural resources and no shortage of labour. He could have turned that country into an economic powerhouse and made the lives of the people living there ten times betterInstead they ran their economy into the ground, kept their people under the boot through fear and misinformation and then launch pointless wars to try and relive the old days.

I really don’t get the people trying it on with the “yeah but both sides are wrong” argument. NATO haven’t done anything and as others have said there have been NATO counties on their doorstep for years and if Ukraine wants to join them that is their right as a sovereign nation. Russia doesn’t just get to say no and invade them.

That reminds me of BlueMatt23 was it? Never mind glass half empty, it was permanently empty with him.

Cant find him as a member anymore. Hope he’s ok.

Anyone seen Roubaixtuesday lately? Would’ve thought a war would be right up his street now nobody’s arsed about covid anymore.

Exactly. That order ends with him being shot in the head.

Military generals aren’t daft people.
Ive just spent 2 weeks in Africa with 2 retired British Army Majors who spent most of their military careers either there or with the Gurkas, or in Oman. Lovely people, but totally like childish public schoolboys who never had to grow out of it. i wouldnt be so sure about your confidence

Those Russian flags Antifa carry about aint just for show.

Russia’s military budget is similar to ours yet their armed forces are ten times bigger. The implication is that they can’t be anywhere near as well armed or well trained as many smaller militaries in the west. If you think about it it’s no real surprise they’re a shambles when up against well organised opposition.
I don‘t think they have to be organised, just belligerent as the opposition are basically made up of Reserves.

Poor sods, they have no allegiances to Putin.

Or petrol bombs

Ideally if having to resort to petrol bombs you have sufficient real meat to stop the first 2 and last 2 vehicles in every column you strategically cut off in kill zones. A bonus woukd then be side parked vehicles to create sporadic explosions petrol fuel and shrapnel to minimise the risk of the middle column occupiers evac and taking to opibua against civilians. In thuu it s scenarios petrol bombs are great for bulking out the kill zone.

textbook urban warfare - lure your enemy into a tight space then knock out the head and tail of the column - no route to advance no route to retreat then turn the screw on the column

Biggest thing to me is he’s spent twenty years very successfully disrupting European politics and sowing divisions that he’s completely undone in the space of four days.

As Lenin said, "There are decades where weeks happen, and there are weeks when decades happen".

I feel like we've been in basically the same stand-off with Russia and Putin for 30 years and in the last week everything has changed.

It's a bit pie in the sky right now, but if this ends in Putin being removed, and the west offers an olive branch to the new guy in return for leaving Ukraine, we might start to move on from Russia vs. the West of the last 75 years. Normal Russians don't want to be a pariah state and destitute, we've kneecapped the Oligarchs which must loosen their chokehold on the country.

Exactly with geometry and gravity on side as well for the bonus.
