Russian invasion of Ukraine

The Putin effect...

Marine Le Pen's party is binning its 8-page electoral tract, which features a picture of her shaking hands with Vladimir Putin. Apparently that's not a vote-winner any more! 1.2 million copies had been printed.‘ @The Economist

When people blame Nato for causing this, all they can "blame" them for is accelerating what russia always intended to do. As has been said they have bordered Nato for years, this has nothing to do with Nato bordering them or for the security of russia. If nukes were a concern the distance of ukraine is making no difference with modern technology and if we get to that unfortunate stage, nowhere on earth is safe anyway. It is just one of the many lies they throw out in the hope that some stick.

Putin's problem with nato is that he knows as soon as Ukraine joins nato his ability to conquer them is gone forever, this is a desperate last attempt to regain historical russian land before it solidifies its independence from russia forever.

This is also why the "dont expand east or we will be angry" became a talking point despite never being an actual agreement, as they always intended to reintegrate land lost from the USSR in the future, they were never acting in good faith.

If not for these nations joining nato already, russia would be half way across europe by now threatening anyone who steps with nuclear war, those nations who decided to join nato have been entirely vindicated.

Nail, head.

United Arab Emirates assumes the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council for the month of March. Very messy, messy, it's getting messy.

This should be the go to post in this thread every day.
Much like the 'rag cunts' posts is in the United thread.
They are disgusting mate. Every word I hear from Cuntin Putin, their foreign minister, their ambassador to the UN, the **** I heard on channel 4 news yesterday justifying all their cunting disgusting atrocities, their useless gutless army commanders, their cunting government. The Ukrainian people are UNBELIEVABLE. The Russians are UTTER CUNTS. And off the subject a bit, Everton want a fucking official apology for a penalty they didn’t get, talk about fucking perspective, the scouse clowns booed us from start to finish, despite there being a Ukrainian in our squad and now they want, and get, a formal apology.

Depends what you mean by holding out. Russia can take the city quickly with overwhelming force, but the guerrilla war will go on for months stretching into years.
Oh for sure, absolutely. But that would mean an end to the indiscriminate heavy bombardment by Russian forces. That bit will have stopped. I am not unsympathetic to Russian soldiers losing their lives to Ukrainian snipers, but I am a damned sight less sympathetic than seeing Ukrainian civilians being massacred if the war continues as is.

An Iraqi veterans opinion on what Russia is facing.

Worth pointing out the Coalition weren’t dealing with the worst sanctions in history either.

Thanks for sharing, it’s posts like this I come on here for.

I think there are some similarities to NI during the troubles but this will be much much worse on every level.

I would feel sorry for the Russian troops but honestly fuck ‘em, they shouldn’t be there and are killing civilians in their imperialist aims.

Some clarity on that massive Russian armoured column heading south towards Kyiv.
Close analysis of the latest satellite images by McKenzie Intelligence Services reveals the following:
  • The convoy is not 40 miles long, it’s a series of logistical ‘packets’ strung out along a major highway from the Belarus border, aiming to link up with Russian units on the northern outskirts of Kyiv.
  • The convoy appears to be hampered in several places by broken down vehicles.
  • The column consists of some armour (tanks) and infantry fighting vehicles but mainly logistical vehicles, implying plans for more than just a brief battle.
Separately, the imagery examined by McKenzie Intelligence Services shows a Russian parachute battalion dug in to the area of Hostomel airfield - Ukraine's most important international cargo airport and a key military airbase near Kyiv.
But their artillery is assessed to be outside the range of most of the capital.
The analysts say they have noted very little Russian progress over the past 24 hours.

So it's not a 40mile convoy after all, that's good to know because the prospect of that is frightening in the extreme.
Shit equipment won't do much for moral, it will only serve to strengthen the resolve of the Ukranians.

if 2 people stand 1 mile apart is it a 1 mile convoy?

There will be one of these videos for Farage soon enough.

I despise these people.

I’d have more respect for people like this, Galloway is one over here, if they just held their hands up and said they read it wrong and Russia are not what they thought.

Bollocks.
There was an agreement in place that Russia would respect Ukraine's borders when Ukraine gave up its USSR nukes.
Any agreement with Russia isn't worth the paper it's written on, and NATO was never the real issue for Putin. It was and always has been his dreams of a Russian Empire.
Agreements exist to make sure that the weaker party sticks to its side of the bargain. In international relations there is no fairness or justice and there is nothing truer than the adage that:

“we both alike know that into the discussion of human affairs the question of justice only enters where there is equal power to enforce it, and that the powerful exact what they can, and the weak suffer what they must.”

This is probably true on any level you can think of.
