Russian invasion of Ukraine

I'm no fan of Putin and what the Russians are doing, but people seem to have forgotten quite how bad Hitler was. I doubt the Ukrainians would make that comparison yet.
Ukrainian losses in WW2 were c 2.5m military and 4.5m civilians.
An order was given to kill 100 civilians for every German soldier killed.
That’s a bit like saying Hitler was worse than Goering, Goering was worse than Himmler etc, the fact is the Nazis were utter cunts, Putin is an utter ****

The Ukrainians have compared this to the beginning of WW2 non-stop and Putin to Hitler.

Can we just confirm that Hitler was the worst of the lot and leave it there.

Putin is showing some similarities though.

Why have Russia not turned off the gas to Europe? They can’t be getting paid for it as all assets etc are frozen, surely this would harm countries in the EU in particular Germany .

Think Europe currently are still paying for gas. They didn’t sanction a couple of the banks for that reason.

The key to this now is China for me. They have influence and I’m sure they would be very happy to be seen as the good guys. Sounds like they have held a call with the Ukraine tonight. I hope they can find some kind of solution to this without much more bloodshed.

I can’t see them risking Taiwan after this economic backlash either.

Ive said I think China is the key all through it and I hope US diplomats are focussing a lot of energy on them.

Has there been concrete evidence of the use of cluster munitions by the Russians yet?

We rely on China even more than Russia in Europe, I cannot see the same sanctions involved for Taiwan and sadly I think it’s so far removed from us that less of the public will care.

Ukraine is a huge nation in Europe so it naturally strikes a cord.

Sad for the Taiwanese mind you.

The US have purposely kept fairly quiet I think so as not to up the ante. Hopefully there will be lots of behind the scenes diplomatic talks going on.

Condemnation but not responding to Putins ludicrous threats. Calm heads are needed in a crisis. Powerful influential people need to think before they spout off.

Yes there’s a vid of multiple small explosions on a building - described by far better experts than me as ‘clearly a cluster bomb’

This twitter account is not reliable it basically reports every positive rumour about Ukraine, so don't believe they are coming, but if these sanctions are possible...

I've never even considered the idea that Apple could just kill every iPhone in Russia remotely, or Windows lockout every PC connected to the internet.

Probably correct, but I think they'll want more damage to the west and russia first, as they stand to benefit.
