It's terrible. These innocent oligarchs are only getting 21 to 30 days notice before their assets are seized. They're so respectable they even donate to our beloved Conservative party.

Germany and France have both seized super yachts in the past two days , Johnson and co have seized fuck all . Johnson and his cabal are so mired in Russian funding and bribes they are paralysed. Just wondering how all the flag wavers and Tory sycophants square this circle , they all claim to be patriots !! Fucking traitors more like .

If we see anything other than a coherent and immediate plan on Monday then there’ll be no doubt left that this government is corrupt to the core.

Spot the difference. BBC news reporting hundreds of refugees arriving in Berlin and all, I repeat, all are taken into peoples homes. Don’t see that happening over here.

In fact they appear to be trying to make it harder.

The Economic Crime Bill is an important step in addressing the scourge of overseas tax evaders, money launderers and criminals using the UK as a base for their economic crimes, and one that given the devastating circumstances abroad is sadly more important than ever.

The Register of Overseas Entities in particular will help unmask the real beneficiaries of ownership in the UK, and provide critical transparency that will ensure criminals have nowhere to hide. This is an issue that goes beyond the assets of oligarchs – lack of ownership transparency affects communities across the UK, and this register could help fill the vacant buildings on our high streets, hold landlords and investors to account, and ensure a level playing field for UK businesses.

A list of beneficial owners in such a register will be vital, but sadly one significant loophole remains in the legislation.

Overseas owners will be given up to 18 months to comply with the new regulations, giving oligarchs and criminals more than enough time to sell-up or find new ways of hiding their assets.

Given the rapidly unfolding events abroad, we need action now – not in months and years to come.

That’s why as your constituent, I’m asking you to support amendments that will reduce the implementation time of these rules to 28 days, so that we can close this oligarchs loophole and effectively tackle the problem of ownership transparency.

Will you commit to backing these amendments, and help crack down on this damaging criminality?
