Russian invasion of Ukraine

Always come in threes ..pandemic, war, natural disaster next ?..maybe a huge CME will wipe us out..

Kim wears special platforms, usually hidden by flares when he is standing up.

All that power and wealth and he is so insecure he has dress to like he has special needs.

Anti aircraft missiles are generally fired at aircraft who are attacking within your own border, a fighter bomber could be sent to attack people outside your border, hence escalating the conflict, though I doubt they would, Ukraine could take retaliatory action against a russian city.

Appreciate that there are rocket launchers within Russian territory, which I don't believe Ukraine would target ( but would fully understand if they did). But there are many heavy artillery units currently in Ukraine.

Even the Vinson wouldn't see a hypersonic missile coming, sadly.

They have invested heavily in these new generation missiles which move five times the speed of sound and can take out a carrier without a blip on the radar.

The US are about 18 months behind on hypersonics.

We had this situation during the cold War for decades, in essense MAD works.

I guess you weren't born or possibly a child during these times so didn't realise the situation then.

In addition, Putin is scared stupid over covid , no chance would such a person start a nuclear war and destroy himself.

Yes, but anti aircraft doesn't shell civilians, but an aircraft could bomb civilians, as I said I very much doubt they would in these circumstances, but russia could claim they have.

I don't know why they didn't just repaint the jets in Ukraine livery, and just fly them into Ukraine one by one (assuming they have the pilots), without announcing it all to the world, yes the russians would have an idea where they came from, but they could fly in from several directions so it wouldn't be easy for them to prove where they came from.
 
The government here faces a dilemma with the refugee crisis from Ukraine. Brexit proved that we have a lot of our electorate from both the traditional left and the right are Nationalistic. The general view is that people didn't like the free movement of people or people seeking refugee status here. Now that we are living with the 24 hour coverage of the horrific war in Ukraine ,the general feeling is that we should be taking a lot more Ukrainian refugees but I bet they don't feel the same about other refugees of different nationalities. If the government takes a different approach to Ukrainian refugees ,will they be accused of prejudice?
I know brexit was a lot more than the movement of people but I want this post to stick to the topic
