Metrolink to / from Etihad

Got my pass, just the annual £10 for using the trams/trains in GM.
Are you posting this as some sort of success story?? If anything it just proves what a ballache it is when you have to get around on a tram that isn't running when they've stopped other means of transport that worked fine for years. You're lucky to have someone give you a lift from the car park otherwise I'm presuming that would have meant more delays getting home
No I was pointing out what a faff it was because Metrolink chose the Derby day to terminate all tram services from Altrincham at Trafford Bar. Have the twats got no common sense whatsoever?

It impacts people badly when it happens.ive wrote to Burnham a few times but you just get the usual claptrap.

I'm only interested in getting to and from the ground from the City center, seems to be a better service on a Sunday, yesterday being a case in point no long queues and double units.
It was only better yesterday because all the trams that should have run from Eccles, Alty and Didsbury were used.

What public transport system chooses the weekend of the local derby to terminate it's tram service south of the city.

Answer FUCKING METROLINK.
And to say most of the network is only a few years old, it sure needs a lot of work doing to it.
They should never have been allowed to expand as quickly as they did they couldn't cope before so what chance have we got now.

I hate metrolink. Because it runs into areas tfgm decided in their infinate wisdom to discontinue buses running into those areas. They totally ignore the fact not everyone lives near a tram stop, it's more expensive and on days like yesterday you're fucked. Last night trying to get from Altrincham to Didsbury for a drink by public transport was as good as impossible. I used to be able to catch a 370 bus that took me right into the heart of Didsbury village. Last night all trams terminated at Old Trafford and there was no Didsbury trams either, they terminated at Firswood. The only way I could get there by public transport was a 263 to Stretford and catch another bus, a journey that would take me 90 minutes minimum IF the connections aligned. Just fuck off and when you get there fuck off again metrolink!
The 288 bus goes from Alty to Didsbury mate.

I used the alternative Metrolink bus option from Stretford and it worked well. After the game as I walked to Piccadilly there was a regular stream of trams passing me into town. The conclusion I can draw from this is that if Metrolink was a simple single track operation they can manage but in reality as it`s grown over the years it can`t cope with peak time operation over multiple routes.

From 2024 the Ashton line will be closed for 2 years! because of HS2, the additional cost of running the line from New Islington to Ashton looks like it has been scrapped to save money...

Are there any maintenance or overnight depot facilities between Ashton and New Islington. And what about staff facilities. - I know they can be built but nobody seems to have considered it.
Cue many thousands of fans forgetting how they got to games for 9 or 10 years before the Ashton line opened.

Not sure, but no tram for 2 years will be awful, considering the issues with parking. There will be a bus replacement service, can you imagine that?

The bus replacement east to Ashton might not be too bad but the one into town needs to have priority along Ashton New Road with pedestrians being routed along other streets. - Or vice versa, but the whole thing will collapse like Salah in the box if buses and pedestrians are sharing the same bit of road.
Perhaps buses along Ashton New Road, Merrill Street and Pollard Street and pedestrians down Cambrian Street and other side streets to Bradford Road.

If ever you want proof that Burnham and his bumboys on the Council are Rag-centric look no further than this weekend's closure of the Mancunian Way. Its been cancelled cos the Rags are at home.

The closure of one of Manchester’s major city centre routes for maintenance has been pushed back by a week to try to minimise disruption to journeys.
The repairs had been scheduled to take place this weekend (Saturday 12 March and Sunday 13 March), when the Rag Bastards have a home Premier League match and there are major events in the city.

Well I'm still at Piccadilly waiting for a fucking tram to Sale. A journey of 7 miles (of which I walk 1.1) and they can't even manage that efficiently (again).
It’s bollocks. Door to door a 9 mile journey (I’m in Alty) is going to take near on 90 minutes…I could run it in that ffs

Lord help us when the Arena opens and there’s a concert on the same night as the match

Was in same situation last night. Got to Picc, board said 9 mins for a double, 2 mins before arriving disappeared off the board and then a single turned up. Like Sardines in an overheated tin. The amount of fans who didn't get on was shocking.

Apparently the train to Alty was also cancelled last night and the wankers put a single unit on the Met.

We were lucky. My brother is a season ticket holder at OT which is 3.8 miles from my mum's where we leave our car. A couple of games ago, he couldn't even get to their game. Trams were off so he tried the bus and couldn't get on one because they were all full and didn't stop. In the end, he turned round and missed the game

Does your brother leave his car at your mum's? If so, why didn't he just drive to the swamp when the trams were off? I've parked a reasonable distance from the swamp for all but two or three derbies over the last 40+ years.
