My 9 yo lad is learning to play, can anyone recommend a decent beginners text or app ?

you get a free week, then you subscribe. My 14 year old niece used this for 4 months and it was a great starting point, she now has a weekly lesson with a teacher.

My 16 year old lad has a white Fender Stratocaster and a buttermilk (I think?) Fender Jazzmaster. Loves them both and never puts them down but now talking about getting an Epiphone Les Paul too

The 1st E string on my acoustic as rattling. What could it be?

Ah,this is a common complaint.It's called Rattling E-String.Set it on fire and buy a ukulele.Seriously though,sounds like possibly a string-on-fret problem.Lay the guitar flat and look along the string and see if it touches a fret.Are the frets worn?

I've been monitoring the Jazzmasters on eBay carefully - lovely guitars.

Pending the spec of them I would think your lad would prefer the Fenders to the feel of an Epiphone (unless he really just wants a Les Paul)..........

My son has been playing for a few years - just got him a squire affinity strat as he is old enough now for a full size. Feck these cheap guitars are so good now. I've had 2 cheap electrics over the yeas and both sounded shit so i've always played acoustic. I have a genuine fender acoustic but its a cheap 90's chinese made affair and its a bit shit if I'm honest. This squire is so much nicer to play, feels just right and sounds great through a basic amp.

I've just bought 2 pedals (looper and reverb) that he didnt ask for....

I have not been playing my guitar for years really. Mostly due to popular demand, but the rest is me. I can batter out a tune but am fed up I am not really any good. It upsets me. I hate being shit at stuff. Why god? Why? You give me this hair, wit, compassion, the ability to be universaly loved and then I pick up the guitar and people want me dead. Its not fair.

I'm going outside now, I may be some time.
