Crystal Palace (A) | Post Match Thread

If Arsenal weren't in such good form and Liverpool not in a downturn of their form I'd have agreed. As it is though, anyone who's been paying attention to both teams these past few weeks, will probably tell you don't count on Liverpool steam rolling them.
Liverpool have had a downturn of form? Eh, what?

I honestly think it’s about 50-50 now if not more favourable for Liverpool. They have the momentum and we look far more like dropping more points than they do.

7 points dropped in last 7 matches.
We need to stay in front by the 1 point up to when we play them. A draw against them wouldn’t be a disaster if that was the case, we then regroup after that game.

Phil is irritating the shit out of me at the moment, looks like a guy who thinks he’s there, which was predicted.
Taking one for the team and playing out of position. Will deffo help his game in the long run tho.

Pace was exactly what was required. We have no pace to counter it’s way too slow. The lack of pace is hurting us. Need to address it in the summer.
It’s the pace of the play/pass that counts and not somebody trying to run direct at a packed defence.
Sterling would have injected pace but he simply just runs into brick walls

They will get bummed off whoever they play next fucking shithouses
I think it’s written in the rules somewhere that teams raise their game when they play the champions. It’s a fact and it’s a compliment to us and what we’ve become. You can’t and don’t win them all. We are in the home straight and in a fantastic position in three competitions. Some of you seem to have already accepted that the dippers will beat us in a few weeks. Just stay a bit more positive or don’t post until you’ve slept ……and, enjoy the ride. If you can’t enjoy the buzz and the expectation take up bowls.

Add to that it’s fucking painful watching us on sky, commentators are obsessed with bringing up Liverpool.

Viera has been offered congratulations twice in his post match interview by them, they nicked a point as we couldn’t finish ffs
Tbf Viera taking Palace to ~10 as his first PL job is a small achievement

One bright spark from this game, is if we do sign Haaland teams are not going to know how to deal with us playing a 6ft odd striker.
The same way they do now, as well over half our crosses are hit with the randomness of a magic eight ball.

Asked if City could win tonight Carragher replied "I hope not". Don't ever recall any pundit making the same comment about any other team.
They’d never have a Liverpool game with a full career United and Everton pundits, or Liverpool and City pundits for a United game. It’s not like they possess unique insight or communication skills.

Not so sure Gooners are an improved team but dippers having three forwards gives them a damn good chance of bagging a couple of goals. They will be inspired and see this as their big chance. I can’t see them dropping points.

Martinelli is the one to watch in that game. Seems an incredible prospect.

Maybe you are right.…but then again maybe not. Either way I think Pep might know what he is doing.
I
Difference is that they have 3 top class strikers and strength on the bench and play to those strengths ie boot the ball up the pitch and bypass midfield so theu get space. Where we pass it sideways and backwards giving teams plenty of time to get players back.

Plus both their full backs are pretty deadly with their crossing where Walker only hits the 1st defender and Cancelo either gives it away cheaply or over hits every cross
correct better strikers and a higher tempo

Pool will play similar to Palace did today, press high play on the counter and. move the ball fast although they won't play with 10 behind the ball but will definitely wait for City to over commit or nick it off Stones, Laporte or Rogri and take it from there

Another night where seemingly good chances aren't put away. Not the performance of title winners. Play poorly and take the three points is what champions in errantly do! Ah well, roll on the women on Wednesday! (That last phrase is metaphorical!)
Enjoy watching the women’s team. Sounds great. Must be rubbish watching the men’s team not performing like champions. Top of the league, lost 3,games. Another night....

Shocking miss by Laporte following up on Cancelo hitting the post cost us tonight

One of those games you just knew we weren't going to score if we'd played till next week , let's hope Arsenal do us a favour on Wednesday
