Haaland has his Heart set on playing in Spain in the near future.Hence why he has bought property there.No idea why this upsets you ?.Of course it isn't evidence,just an indicator, it is well documented, he has told people around him of his career intentions..

If Barcelona/Madrid were not both skint,and could afford to sign Haaland right now, it is highly likely he would be going to Spain at the then end of this season.

As it happens they dont have a Pot to piss in.

Their loss now becomes our gain.

Haaland needs a short term alternative, to activate the paltry below market release clause, not let it expire.

I fully expect he wants to come to us on a short term 3 year contract given his Father connections.Before the lucrative move over to Spain.

No one has said he wont have a change of Heart when he gets here,sign for us,and stay longer.Money and success decides everything ultimately.

It isn't all about Haaland though.As good as a player as he is,any deal has to be good for us as a Club.

We might not be happy with a 3 year contract for one of the hottest property's in the game.It leaves us open to getting screwed over by his agent.We might expect 5 years minimum commitment from the player.

Haaland Agent might see us a stepping Stone.

We as a Club rightly will not view ourselves a stepping Stone.

I asked him because I remember there was someone here from the Norwegian fan group on Facebook that Haaland was a member of, and I didn’t remember who it was. Nothing to do with his English

They said the same about Silva, Kun, Yaya etc, when players come to this club they fall under it's spell, as a club we look after players and their family's like no other, don't underestimate what that means.

I can only assume that it is incorrect as reported, as it would mean amortization of his deal over a significantly shorter period, and thus much more costly on a FFP basis.

I MIGHT be able to see where, after 3 years, a suitably large Release Clause is put in place to recoup investment AND allow him to move on. That would allow the three of them to get another large payday, and City to get both a nice transfer fee and a large opening in our wage bill for a potential replacement.

However, it’s hard to see how City could accept anything other than an initial 5-6 year deal, even if only for the purposes of FFP amortization, with the understanding that he and his advisors may be actively looking for another pay day in 3 years.

City won't consider anything short of 5 yrs, it wouldn't make sense. We've seen how Raiola touted him about last year, knowing the release clause would kick in this season. So based on a 3 year deal, he be doing exactly the same after 1 Yr at City.
 
Honestly, I think the biggest reason this will happen is because the board has to know they need to back Pep with a big name striker.

We know how much respect the chairman has for Pep, he must feel he almost owes it to him to get him a big name striker, and I like Julian Alvarez but he is not a big name (let's hope he will be in the future).

If we lose out on Haaland who is left? There is nobody I know of, after Vlahovic left and Kane stayed at Tottenham, to back him with. It would be gross negligence by them, so I think they will likely try everything to bring him, more so than other signings we failed to bring in.

Reverse the question, would Madrid agree to sign him for three years?

Those who counter that is because he simply wants to play for Real Madrid, need to also ask why Madrid can't then just offer him a ten year deal and have done with it, making the overall cost peanuts as a result?

Think this is my reading of it too. The Spanish are all talking about how City are offering unmatchable money.

You know, unmatchable by a club who are about to pay another player £600k a week. And were bidding £150m for a guy with 12 months left on his deal

That would be correct IF anything you just said is remotely accurate, but it's literally nothing but speculation

He got 21 in all competitions. He played 57 games.

In the league he played 37 and got 11 which included 2 against Sheffield United. He plays as a wide striker, that's a dogshit record. His goals per minute record put him behind Danny Welbeck last season and just in front of Robson Kanu in 38th place. That's also behind both Cavani and Greenwood.

I know several long term United season ticket holders and they think he's wank too. Maybe it's the 11 year old in them talking.
 
I recall coming back from the ground the day we signed Aguero and talksport had some experts on saying that Aguero would be back in Spain before the end of the summer and the reason he signed for City was he couldn't move directly across Madrid. Bottom line is you can only control what we can control, if we sign Haaland say for 12months its not like we lose out on the deal, chances are the release clause would be much higher, so 12 months on we have had use of one of the best players in the world and made money on the deal, so all in all a "bad" outcome with signing him actually isn't really that bad...

Big bad Real are going to come and poach him after 2 years. Anyone who mentions 3 years again should get banned for being a fanny wipe
