Why we will win the league!

International break coming at a good time for us. I'm not overly confident, nor resigned to them winning. Will be hard to tell until we see what city comes back from the break.

Last night was very demoralising. The last few times I've watched them I have not seen them play particularly well at all and they don't look anything special as a team, but they still keep winning comfortably.

When it all clicks with us we are a great team, it doesn't need to click with them, that's the difference. We are easily capable of beating them but as others have said, they are probably less likely to drop points after that than we are.

Someone please go find out what’s the longest winning run scousers have gone on in the Premier League … not unbeaten run, not an Anfield run but one that includes back to back to back wins only … and then figure out how many league games on the trot (including current run) they need to win to win this title?

Then calm down … we’re winning this league, not them!
18 in a row - the same as us. They're currently on 9 in a row with 9 games left to play. They win their 9 remaining games and they win the league and match that 18 game winning streak held by both us and them, regardless of what we do.

What was the question again?

If we draw with Liverpool & win the others, we can't be caught. And we are clearly capable of doing that. We will doubtless have the possession & chances to do it comfortably.

The problem, as always, will be the (lack of) finishing; we had 32 chances (home & away) v Palace this season, and took none of them. Will the same happen in one or two of our remaining games ? Very possibly, but fingers crossed it doesn't & we get across the line.

Some absolute fannies in here. We’ve won 16 out of 19 games and lost 1 game since October. They think it should all be a cake walk and don’t want the fight. The best titles are won when it’s neck and neck.

City and Liverpool are both great teams. All it takes is 2-3 off results for a lead to be gone and it’s only natural both sides will have mini blips since no team can win forever. They had their drop in December, we’ve had ours over the last month. It’s swings and roundabouts.

Not only that but this kind of title race is better for our CL hopes. When we played Chelsea in the final it had been weeks since our strongest side had played because we’d won the league so early.

Personally I’m excited to confront Liverpool at our place. It’s like a rematch from 2019 which was one of the best atmospheres we’ve had in the modern era. I’m up for that just like I was then.

Ask any dipper fan would you rather be 1 point behind and have to go to the team who are above you or be 1 point in front and have to play the team just below you at home..
I know which I would prefer..

The break after this weekends cup games has come at a welcome time. Hopefully scouse get a couple of injuries or at least lose momentum.

We regroup and get focussed for what is going to be an intense run in. Tomorrow is a changer, potentially. Should we draw Liverpool their arses will drop. 3 games, 2 at home, all to play for. We’ll come through that.

We are mentally solid and know how to deal with what is coming up. I cannot bleeding wait for the Burnley game. On we go!

People in here really are burying their heads in the sand. We were fourteen points ahead in January and now it’s down to one. There’s no way we’ll manage to hold onto it now unless Liverpool collapse, which is highly unlikely at this stage.

It was never really fourteen points though, was it. I think everyone assumed Liverpool would win their games in hand so it was only ever an eight point gap. A seven point swing since January is still bad, mind you.

And as importantly so will Bernardo

Yep and with half a season to go it’s like we went 14 points ahead of Liverpool with them 2 games in hand we only had 10 games left!

It’s why I found it incredible that some high profile fans podcasters were saying it done in their opinion! Really with only half season to go that is utter arrogance.

When we win our next three games we will be in the FA Cup semi and at least four points clear in the league with seven games to go of which four are at home. Stop all the fanny wiping and get behind the boys.

It is, but it shows how quickly things can change if one team is winning all their games and the other isn't. There was a 7 point swing from Liverpool to us over Christmas in far fewer games than it's taken them to currently make up 7 points on us!
