I think Haaland probably has to accept that with Raiola as his 'sporting director', a release clause which is easily affordable, and the interest of the world's best clubs, there is going to be a ridiculous amount of speculation.

City aren't perfect in terms of their record for signing players they're confident they'll get, but I definitely feel like they've pulled out all the stops for this one.
 
We are getting ambushed by the stockpile of videos Tolmie has been saving up. I reckon Haaland himself is going to spill the beans soon.

When you say pull out all the stops, do you think that includes inserting a relatively low release clause? I'd hate to think in 2/3 years time if we do get him, we are all on a Haaland merry go round every summer.
 
We took advantage of a release clause to get Grealish, a Premier League player. It’s not as rare as people might think.

Not saying formally, just noises from the buying side. Barca, Real or PSG wouldnt care about upsetting dortmund with leaks nor the impact to their seasons as its all good publicity for the way they operate.

Barcas president has spoken many times about other teams players. If he was signing haaland he would have told someone in the press and it would be everywhere.

Likewise Real. Everyone has accepted mbappe is going to madrid likely because the club has told the press how confident they are. Its not even a debate like haaland.

Likewise psg. Their whole model is about outward appearances. If they were close we’d know.

None of these have happened.

Haaland's first choice seems to be Real Madrid. But he's put off by their signing of MBappe.

So now, he's waffling a bit.

Maybe we'll sign him - maybe not. What's clear though is that he's not 100% enthusiastic about the prospect of becoming a Blue.

He'll sign for us if it looks like his playing time at Real might be in question and provided we pony up a ton of dough.

That's his right, though - I don't begrudge him this.

Would love to sign Haaland - still looks iffy to me though.

but is that not what you read into things rather than fact mate? Probably the bollocks in the media swaying you?

I do think sometimes people underestimate how noisy football people are. Say a City contingent is meeting a Haaland contingent? How many people - from drivers to office staff booking flights to conference rooms - are going to be involved in that? How easy is it to tell whether a meeting went well? That's before you even have the politics of leaks and stuff. Half the club will know before anything is confirmed, and half of City is a couple of hundred people at this point.

I have a mate who works at club, no where near the top, but reasonably well-connected, and she hears all sorts of things all the time.
