I thought eddy had a good game last night seemed to go back to old school goalkeeping when we needed it just prove he really is a excellent All round keeper.

Yes Ederson was spot on last night. Great goalkeeping throughout and brave as well as he knew he would clattered on that last free kick. Some good saves and all round top keeping.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if UEFA fine both clubs for players losing control, even though City players didn't lose control.
Felipe will get a derisory fine for not leaving the pitch whilst Savic will get away with it as they'll say the ref dealt with it at the time. It's bent.

A proper organisation would ban Atletico from UEFA competitions for a season, but we all know that won't happen.

Savic will get a ban. Too many infringements to go unpunished. They will use the headbutt, hair pulling, and tunnel incidents to suspend him.
No way he gets away with just a yellow.

There dark arts and a bit of shithousery or whatever it’s called these days but Fernandinho never goes out to injure people or take it too far. That’s not hypocritical or blue tinted specs either. That last night was bordering on Sunday league antics.
And yeah we do play football the right way and we should be applauded for it and those no marks yesterday should get no praise from anyone in football.

To try and compare them to Wimbledon of years gone by as well is an insult to the dons. Yes those boys knew there limits and mixed it up by never resorted to 90 minutes of that bullshit.

I’m 40 and forgive me as I don’t know your age but I really don’t recall this level of thuggery from teams for a constant 90 minutes. Maybe I’m a tad angry still at what went on last night but I just can’t agree that last night was a proper European football match and blood and guts type game.


It wasn’t. It went too far. The assault on foden in the first few minutes or the prick savic barging into foden when he was nowhere near the ball. They left the foot in after everything and that challenge on foden at the end where he had already won the ball could have broke his leg. Then the reactions after like they had done fuck all wrong. Na I’m not having any of that.

another lad has likened them to Wimbledon etc. Those boys could control there emotions and played on the edge and dare I say wouldn’t really have wanted to seriously injure someone for the whole 90 minutes. They would probably even pick you up after a challenger or have a wry smile.
This lot were totally out of control. Just look at the way the acted after the game and in the tunnel.
It’s not right and it’s not football.

Look I’m not trying to get into any kind of argument with you or anyone as we are all city fans and we see things differently in just passionate about what I saw last night and I didn’t like it one bit.

Perhaps the club should invite Savic to appear at City Square on the pretext we want to discuss building his statue. Being serious though, I wonder how long it will be before a club threatens legal action at what seem to be corrupt officiating on the pitch and with var.

Probably everyone’s first reaction regarding Saturday after that game and the 2 injuries. Walker pace will be a huge miss and obviously it’s a big blow losing KDB. On the flip side though the defence will be fully recovered in terms of fitness. Bernie is as fit as anybody and Grealish,Sterling and Jesus will all start after an easy week. Big challenge but one that great teams can easily over come if they’re going to have a remarkable season.

I think Pep would have made a significant number of changes for the weekend regardless of injuries. Saturday will be a compromise. Liverpool will rest one or two as well. We can still put out a weakened team capable of inflicting damage on Liverpool. Jack and Raheem know they'll have to play the game of their lives.

That match provoked pleasant memories of old George Heslop. If he'd been playing, some cnut would have been kicked all the way into row Z. That our players kept their heads in such a game speaks volumes about their professionalism.

If Athletico had scored in the last few minutes I would have been destroyed. I was so ecstatic when the final whistle blew. And since then I have been enjoying my favourite tipple...Glenmorangie...and I am feeling bloody fantastic right now haha!!!.

Absolutely ridiculous that we train with Pep for 6 years to keep the ball from the back and in one of our most important games we resort to belting it up field (which we don't train for) because its too hard!!!

A way to win. Jesus Christ.,this is the champions league. They are the Spanish champions and have a forward who they spunked 114 million on. It’s not an fa cup tie where a non league team is playing a prem team. How an ex pro can enjoy seeing Felipe and savic purposely go out to injure a fellow pro is beyond me.

am I being a touch over sensitive today. I don’t know. If posters think I am then please give me a nudge but I just can’t conform to the way of thinking that last night was somehow enjoyable or something that just happens in football.

Ban for Foden for getting assaulted
Ban for Pep for leaving his technical area and invading the pitch

I’ve just watched the game again with the knowledge that we had come through… my observations? If that referee ever officiates at another important match like this again there is no justice in football. Disgraceful.
Their manager Simeone should be banned from the touch line for at least a season. He was beyond disgraceful, he was also disgusting!
Their players Savic and Felipe words fail me. (There’s a first!) Not even going there except that Phil Foden was lucky that Zinchenko was there to protect him as their player went in for a kick on his, already bandaged, head!

All in all a night to forget and put to one side as we gear up for the FA Cup semi-final.
AM should also be banned next season if they manage to get through. If not they should be banned the first season they get through again. JMHO

I don't understand why we panicked so badly in that 2nd half, our first half composure went out of the window and we resorted to aimless long balls up the pitch then invited wave after wave of attacks from Atletico.
Maybe we were intimidated by them I don't know but it's the first time in ages I've seen us rattled like that

It was quite late in the 2nd half when Ederson decided to go long. Due to the game being so erratic and Kyle Walker off with injury I think the idea (rightly or wrongly) was to try and take a bit of pressure off the back for a few minutes. Playing out from the back often works well when the game is played at a controlled pace, but Atletico had decided to push really high so it could've been a real problem. As such, I agree that the long balls didn't really help us, but I can sort of understand why Ederson tried this.
