It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

You actually, seriously think analytics have a say over Pep?!
Of course not but City don’t have one of the best and biggest analytical departments in World Football just to ignore their input. It’s a huge part of what they do. All top PL clubs operate this way now. Some like Brentford are solely driven by analytics with the coach having no say at all.

What about Laporte and use Ake as defensive cover with FDJ as an option too? We would also have possibility of Walker to play CB if needed once Stones gets his next injury. I'd rather lose Gundo or Gabby / Sterling as make weights but Laporte would also be an option for me

What if Bernardo wants it?
I don’t think we’ll stand in his way.
We would at very least realize his maximum value.
I would hate to lose him but the ultimate decision may well rest with Bernardo..
That's the only way it will happen. I wouldn't stand in his way but I don't think he's unhappy anymore.

The coach might have had a say where Eriksen was concerned. Don't think he would have scored too highly in analytics.

I don't think Bernardo will want it. I think he did, last summer. But the world is a different place now. We all longed for a bit of travel and some sunshine during covid. A change of scene. But now the world has opened up again he can travel freely and maybe more importantly so can his mrs!

A summer where he can go and relax in the sun before pre-season.

We'll be making statement signings and I'm sure he will be keen to stay longer now. I hope I'm right anyway, he was a class above against Real and is a player we simply have to keep.

Not at the expense of losing him for nothing. Little we can do about it if he chooses to run down his final year.

Unless a club of repute abroad comes to the fore, I think Raheem calls the shots.

Can only see him being involved in a swap or stay.

A.C Milan could be one to watch, once their takeover happens.

A deal that involves Bernardo going to Barca and FDJ coming to us is hard to get exited about for me, would be a downgrade and immediately make our team worse in my opinion. However, if Bernardo sadly would want to leave (which I'm not sure he wants), FDJ is probably one of the better replacements we can get. If we can somehow trick Barca to accepting Sterling as make weight instead on the other hand, then we're talking!

So looking like we will lose out on a fee?

We can't really complain though. We offer these types of deals and wages for that very reason, to put other clubs off from trying to land players earlier, unless they pay the right fee. So when clubs are reluctant to pay towards the end, can't really be surprised.

We will have got great value for money if he sees out his deal and leaves for free. No point selling him for less than the club think he is worth, if anyone offers anything.

They might want a Adama Traore replacement.

Isn't Pep wanting it and City wanting it the same thing?

Yes but it requires the seller to cooperate.

If Pep wants a Patek Phillippe super complication and the only seller wants to keep upping the price (i.e. not really want to sell) then its back to the Kane scenario.

So tolmie, seems like the more reputable journalists are reporting an haaland announcement this week now. You always said it probably won't be announced before the end of the season, you think it'll be announced this week?

It's not, believe it or not. Not always.

We'd have signed Sanchez and Maguire if Pep had had his way.

I'm curious is that because he gives a list of #1, #2, #3 or its because the board/ front office have the final say with math??

Because we genuinely did try for Sanchez and Maguire but those other clubs tried to up the price astronomically since it was City.

I don't consider them reputable. It's coming out in the wash and some are bigger chancers than others.

If it comes out in Germany, there's little we can control.

Is it January 2023 when Sterling can sign with another club?

I see him using the World Cup as him advertising himself

Mixture of the two, it's a consultation, but Pep's trusts Txiki's eye and Khaldoon's fiscal realities.
