It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

We didn’t offer anything for Haaland because we knew we could get him this summer. We only offered what we did for Kane because we wanted a striker but didn’t want to break the bank. If we got him for 100 happy days, if we didn’t we get Haaland for 50. It was a real win win situation for us.
I’m not sure that’s true. We probably enquired about Haaland last summer and walked away from their asking price, if there actually was one. I’m not sure we knew Haaland would come to us this summer until the new year.

We we’re fully in for Kane, but Spurs just didn’t want to sell.

We didn’t offer enough for Haaland last summer and/or had a different target in mind (Kane) and/or were happy to wait for the clause this summer. It’s not a fair comparison.
If offered an amount they couldn’t refuse, they wouldn’t refuse, that’s all I’m saying.
Dortmund agreed when he was going when he originally signed.

This idea that someone would offer Dortmund 150 million and Haaland would go, does not get the deal that was agreed.

There is no way Haaland, agent, advisors etc would allow £100 million extra to go to Dortmund (anything above the £51 million was always going to be theirs).

If Dortmund had accepted the offer, Haaland would have refused and the negotiation would have been based on saving you £100 million next, these are the fees and here is the wages.

There is a reason why we amongst others kept our powder dry!

Gundo has a year left and was told no renewal was forthcoming.

If things are as they are being reported and Gundo is in Madrid, then it might make sense for a player Mendes has offered to us and to replace Sterling and Jesus.

The Internet killers.
Seems like too many changes are being suggested I carnt think of a club in recent years getting this many or letting this many players leave / selling this many ?

Also how good is Felix theses days doesn’t seem to have achieved what’s been expected. Would he break the internet ?

But we didn’t once bid more?

Would it tho no one seem that’s interested in Felix anymore and he hasn’t achieved what he was supposed to How good is he ?
If we missed out on Haaland, which I never believed we would, then great signing. Now I don’t see the point

Yep, for sure if you say so - none of that really misaligns with the point I was making about Jude.

I find that hard to believe. Unsettle the player by doing something if you really want him, don’t accept defeat right away. Look how we basically courted Haaland. We want someone, we want them.
Totally different. Kane was tied to a long contract with no release clause, so Spurs had all the cards. Kane did try to go on strike and nothing happened.

Haaland had a release clause. A low one, but a year later than we wanted.

In the end, we waited a season to get value for money and relying on the coaching genius of Pep to get us through another season without a striker.

They ain’t selling Bellingham pal, time will tell but I think you can call it by how Dortmund have dealt with things previously (of course respect your right of a different opinion).

Shame as I did think we would be in for him next year, but 2 new midfielders this year may change that.

That said it depends on who is available, if Pep may end up with 1 and uses Jack/ Phil/ Zin at other times to cover.

As a club we seem happier to wait an extra season and get it right as opposed to buying the best of what is available at the time.

I agree that we weighed up both transfers to see if Kane was worth it, which means we weren’t fully in on him. That’s the point I’ve been trying to make.

Gundo, Fern, Bernardo leaving means Haaland addition will not have much impact with team having difficulty holding on to ball and no service to him.

Not just us though, anyone could have offered well over £50 mill,,but they were prepared to wait and lose millions on the deal demanding £150 mill. This time they can wait and probably get the same fee or more next summer.
I’m pretty confident he wont move this summer.

Mate, to be clear I’m not saying that he will end up being sold this summer; chances are he won’t. All I was saying was that if hypothetically enough was offered they would sell - imho.
Everyone has a price.
