Is it normal for someone to privately meet the author of a report on their conduct? This is what can happen when an employee is asked to investigate the conduct of their own line manager.

It never was an independent report - its an internal report - she was appointed by Johnson, investigates Johnson and reports to Johnson

That's the point - he is implicated (guilty, in fact) but appoints his own staff to investigate and report to him: what a load of old fanny! That he then meets with her before the report is complete suggests influence - not a good look.

He doesn't care about the look - only the words he and his cronies can quote that "proves" him innocent
