TBF, Metrolink is used to taking 70,000 tourists to Trafford every 2 weeks. ;-)

Easily argued that a good proportion leave our place to hop on a tram swiftly on game days.

I only went to the Kings Hall once for a gig. I couldn't complain about the acoustics, as my ears were ringing for the next 3 days.

Huge day for transport this Saturday.

60,000 at Etihad for Ed Sheeran
80,000 at Heaton Park got Parklife
50,000 at LCCC for the Killers
15,000 at AO Arena for Alicia Keys

Christ. My mrs got tickets for ES at the Etihad but we're going on Sunday. Had forgotten about Parklife, but its going to struggle with even those two.

Good luck to anyone on Saturday though, that is so poor planning.

The stage is in the middle of the pitch I think - I was expecting more than 60k.

I agree, but it's more to show who we're partners with. LN/OVG/Silver Lake just proves money loves money. No way the arena will be a white elephant

+ things like boxing, corporate events, big conferences, comedy, etc etc. All massive pulls and big business.

Personally I’m really excited to see the new arena finished. I’m worried about transport infrastructure around it on match days as I have zero faith in Metrolink / TFGM / MCC to get things right, but as a destination venue and asset to the city it as the potential to be transformative.

Personally I’m really excited to see the new arena finished. I’m worried about transport infrastructure around it on match days as I have zero faith in Metrolink / TFGM / MCC to get things right, but as a destination venue and asset to the city it as the potential to be transformative.

No trams for two years because of HS2 will definitely have an effect. I imagine they will have to lay on a fleet of shuttle buses from Piccadilly and Victoria, probably free with an event ticket

On match days, we actually walk past the buses stood in traffic and get to Piccadilly before most. Adding more will only add to the volume. No idea what the solution is ...
