It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

i've been begging pep to integrate youth for years and he's had his reasons to be patient. if he feels this is their time... I am at the very least intrigued!

I’m just agreeing with City. You are making out Alvarez is better than Raz already.

We have different definitions of facts and reality I accept that much.
No I'm not, I'm making this simple for you, time will tell
And that's a fact we have no different definitions of

For me, McAtee looks a very very exciting prospect....almost better than Foden when at the same stage imho.

Id love to see him given a chance but as Pep did with Foden, it has to be at the right time...Pep protected Foden really well from expectation and look what has happened...we have a genuine world beater on our hands.

Hopefully McAtee makes the grade..he certainly has an eye for goal, is aggressive with and without the ball and has a lot of the qualities Pep looks for.....technically very good in tight spaces, great close control, work rate, tenacity (controlled aggression), always looking for the positive pass and movement.
Hope you are well bud. Does almost better than Foden at the same age mean he’s not as good as Foden at that age? If so, totally agree

From what I’ve seen of him, he’s far too good for U23 football, but I’m not convinced he’s quite ready for our first team just yet. Fantastic prospect & potential tho

I suspect that Palmer and McAtee have found themselves in a footballing no-man's land where they're too good for the EDS but perhaps not considered first team standard just yet. Challenging loan arrangements for both is the way forward in my view where they can be blooded against a better standard of opponent and demonstrate their readiness or otherwise to make that next step up.

Add Lavia to the above.

All 3 would have benefited much more from loans last season (although clearly the Palmer injury would have affected that)

As for the coming season....Palmer can exploit the Gabby and Sterling departures, but again, both Lavia and McAtee are best finding another club for the season.

I do hope that if Sterling leaves we will get a replacement THIS summer.

We already have a small squad of starting players.

100% with you here. Shiny new toys are always nice, and fair play to the club we have already signed the shiniest toy that was out there, but let's start creating or own now a as well as Phil. Some won't be ready but it's not like they will be playing along side and learning from cloggers. Get the left back in, keep Bernardo and use the youth lads to fill in the gaps from the outgoings and I'd be more than happy, given we already have Haaland and Alvarez to come.

It’s unlikely that Alvarez will surpass Sterling’s prime but I’m comparing the current versions of the players. Alvarez definitely has the potential to be better than last season’s version of Sterling. It’s a similar case between Phillips and Fernandinho.

I wouldn't put too much pressure on Alvarez.

It's a huge step up in quality from the Argentine league to Pep's team at the top of the Premier League.

Would be like a player coming from the Championship to Pep's team.

It was hard enough for Grealish to adapt.

Give him time. He'll likely be a bit-part player next season.

Its an opinion....you may disagree and thats cool, but it doesnt make it untrue.

I wasnt meaning age either, i was meaning stage in career - maybe McAtee has just outgrown the EDS and thats why he looks that way?

On Palmer - I have no idea....he looks absolute quality but he looks a hard player to assess whether he makes the jump just because his style is harder to assess as he makes the EDS look so so easy - he is almost laid back in the way he plays
palmer has little bit of the steve mcmanaman about him, just a little

No they can’t. They will still have to stump up 40-50 mil and that is far from peanuts for a guy with a year on his contract.
Yup and on top of that Sterling will command a sign on bonus and probably be one of their top earners if not their top earner.
