Keir Starmer

Oh dear

Just caught up on PMQs, starmer failed badly trying to shake off this weeks claim he is a boring ****, with awful atempts at humour and then lowering himself to snide digs using his predecessor which tbf johnson easily swatted back.

Stick to calling him out for being a terrible PM, don't try humour again kier as you're shit at it.

Keiths pledge number 6 was

Defend migrants rights.

His spokesman is refusing to say he would scrap the Rwanda nonsense. Pandering to RW garbage is not a good look.

Then he calls Johnson the Conservative Corbyn, WTF was he thinking? All he seems to do is alienate the left of the party and the left of the party are already feeling betrayed by him.

Get the **** out now.
Still believe he's looking for a way to walk away with his reputation in place and his head held high before long

This week's broken pledge is 7. Strong pledge this one. Shame he didn't mean any of it.

I thought Mick Lynch gave a decent response when asked about Starmer earlier, especially in view of wider disruption down the line. They can't sit on the fence forever.

Heartfelt stuff this

What is your end goal with this?

Starmer isn’t your pick as a leader. Therefore you show how shit he is.

Is he shit when compared to Johnson?

Are you just biding your time to support a good enough Labour leader?

I guess a populist Tory leader is better than any Labour leader that isn’t left enough.

Crackers.

Should people not post anything bad about Starmer then?

Reminds me of the Biden thread before the US election. All the “progressives” who barely said a word about the most venal US President in history queued up to slag Biden off because their choice wasn’t selected to lead the party. They give the impression of rather having a government led by incompetent liars than one led by someone who doesn’t meet their ideological standards in their preferred party.

Bit different here as progressives and other americanisms isn't a term left wing socialists would use to describe themselves, unless they were dicks

Getting the tories out is anyone on the lefts priority, but starmers cardboard cutout personality and passion sapping dullness still cannot be ignored and would be daft to pretend he isn't exactly inspring.

To think left wingers in the party will work to keep tories in power is absurb and any that do are cunts.

What lefties not in the party do is their own business and are entitled to criticise him and johnson as outside entities

True, but they bitched like hell if anyone said anything about corbyn, saying was traitorous etc, but happy to do exactly the same when a non-prefered candidate is in post

As is their right to do, same as me calling corbyn a bellend, whoch he is andalso a weak dullard who though was useful in re-igniting a lot on the lefts interest, not really the socialiat leader that was needed.

Agree with this and the posters we refer to are the ones I have the biggest issues with politically on here but what exactly does Starmer and Labour under him stand for exactly? What are his policies? I’m hearing nothing of any note and neither is the country and it’s becoming a major issue given the desperation for an alternative to this morally corrupt government we have.

He and his shadow cabinet have to do much more in communicating what a vote for Labour will bring.

Yeah, can't argue with any of that. What we need is a true socialist, a man of the people, someone who everyone can rally around. Now is your time Gary Neville.

That’s fair comment however I would say the main job of the opposition when there is no general election due soon is to hold the government to account in parliament and in the media.

What is the point of making future policy decisions now when there is no prospect of them being enacted until they win power in two and a half years. The time for that is in the year running up to the election because if they show their hand too early there is a good chance circumstances will change and they will need to update those policies which will lead to accusations of them not having a clue what they want to do.

It is general principles that need to be made clear now with a detailed manifesto provided in the run up to an election.

Decency, truth, competence, fairness, and an end to boom and bust.

I knew a vicar whose church was in the Hartlepool constituency for the 2021 by-election.

They were very passionate about refugees and went on national TV several times criticising Starmer for not doing enough.

They voted in a Tory there for the firs5 time in 60 odd years.

This vicar couldn’t believe it. All they wanted to do was make Starmer do more. They hated the Tories far more, but didn’t criticise them as much as this vicar knew that the Tories didn’t care.

Be careful what you wish for.

Trouble is, there were CLEAR differences between Corbyn and Starmer, sorry, Johnson.

They fail to understand the reason Starmer won't speak of policy openly (assuming there is actually any) and it's because the Johnson's habit of co-opting Labour stances, of late, is because the leap is not very far at all.

Ergo, today's Labour policies are merely soft Conservatism as proven very well above.
