I loved the old B & W film.. And I LOVE Keeley Hawes.
I'm always a bit cautious now after watching the BBC's appalling destruction of War of the Worlds. Never again! haha. And I also can't be arsed watching long series that have crap endings any more, too. Life's too short.

They've took a great story and took it round the back for a good kicking, SKY or the BBC shouldn't be allowed near anything decent they murder anything they get their hands on now.

Sherwood is building the intrigue well.
it also works as the writer grew up in the area, the characters are believable and the socio-political atmosphere is real.
Some excellent performances from Brit tv big-hitters.

In fairness to the Hobbit trilogy, it makes perfect sense why they went CGI witgh the Orcs. Just look at the behind the scenes documents
But still they looked awful compared to the ones in the actual trilogy in my opinion

You know what...I completely agree. I love those movies but even I cant defend the orcs or the action sequences. However there is so much to love. The world building, the performances are all excellent
Completely all 6 for me are the greatest movies ever made, let's hope Amazon give us something good

The Journey, peril, alliances, scenery, music and Liv Tyler all utterly brilliant.
I didn't mind Liv Tyler, I know it upset the book purists that she rescued Frodo but I thought Peter Jackson made some amazing decisions, even leaving out Tom Bombadil, The ride of the Rohirrim is the greatest piece of film ever made

I just couldn’t have imagined it done better. The extended versions of all three far outweigh the cinema releases.

I agree about the war of the worlds, it was rubbish but I think the Midwich Cuckoos was quite good ( for a sky production )
