So he will sign a contract here if he receives an increase to his current wage?
It sounds like the issue for Raz is game time.

I heard on one of the podcasts that he started 22 games last season. The problem is that he is not getting in ahead of Mahrez, and we have Phil and Grealish jockeying for the left side.

in my opinion it is quite telling that Pep only started him in 22 games. That speaks volumes for his position in the pecking order, and I honestly don’t think it’s going to improve this coming season, especially with the emergence of Palmer.

I think tolmie was implying sterling wasn’t signing because he wasn’t confident in his game time here.

I couldnt decipher.

That would definitely make sense to a player entering his peak and already a very very wealthy man.

Unfortunately for him,the required game time here will not be guaranteed and so there is clearly only one outcome.

Which was still more than all of Chelseas Wide Forwards. Such an odd move to take. Id back myself to setup Haaland over ermm... who they getting in at striker?

Disappointing if true. Palmer may have potential but he’s currently a huge downgrade on Sterling and we’d be weaker with him in the side instead of Sterling.

It’s a shame we seem to be losing one of our best forwards now we finally have a proper striker who’d thrive on finishing what Sterling creates.

That depends on how Palmer is being used i.e. if Sterling was only being used as a sub to rest key players in games well and truly won, then using Palmer to aid his development is much more beneficial in the long term

Interesting quote from someone in the club in the mirror this morning. ‘City are not overly reluctant to let the forward depart as Guardiola intends on giving Cole Palmer more opportunities next season. The academy graduate is said to be impressing the City staff and they are ‘marvelled at his progress’.’
Really looking forward to see how Cole gets on this season.

i know footballers live in a bubble and self confidence is a huge part of their game but he must realise that he was below par last season and his form didn't provide a basis for a pay rise ?

He has fallen down Pep's player order without doubt, he doesn't get the big games.
He drives me mad as my posts in the match day forum show but his record speaks for him, he would be a loss but it's not something we cannot deal with.

I'm very much hoping that Palmer gets a chance this season

He may have been below par because of the incredibly high bar set from his previous seasons. But being our 3rd highest goal scorer for a below par season isn’t too bad.

i think one issue with Raz is the goals he scores are quite easily forgotten, not too often there is a worldy
offset this with his misses which unfortunately do stick in the mind as usually they are quite obvious and costly

i agree that his record is very good but for whatever reason he wasn't at that level and there has been a loss of trust in him from Pep, this is now the big issue as he wants game time but his performances have cost him in the eyes of the person that matters

It’s no surprise his form dropped off a cliff when we had no striker and he was the only one being shoe horned into that position (for a while) even tho Jesus was right there lol.

There is a pattern of the player Pep uses as the 'utility' in the front line loses form. Was the same for Bernardo the year before, and Foden in patches this season.

Looking at the prem games he never played the same position in two games running till Dec, and went on a scoring run.

Just look at how much Sterling has contributed to our recent seasons. Yes his finishing can be poor but the lad is quality. Far ahead of any of our EDS lads like Palmer or McAtee. Replacing him with one of them would be a huge reduction in our effectiveness.

We won't know till these lads get run outs

I think you are going to be surprised just how good Palmer will be. Pep is no, mug!

Probably because you can't stop the little shit from playing. Been told a few times by someone I know that they've seen him turn out for amateur teams in Wythenshawe at the weekend. Sounds like he might have to knock it on the head this season.

I would like to see Raheem stay at City, but we will not be giving any player a guarantee of more football. He clearly backs himself, as he's shown by repeatedly coming through bad spells of form, racial abuse, the scapegoat for England etc. But he needs to improve and get back to his form from a couple of years ago if he is to even get into the Chelsea side, if that's where he goes.

His form for England improved as his form for City dropped strangely. You can't argue with his record for us though, even if you remember chances he missed or his bad games more.

My main concern with losing him is the lack of pace, which in certain games does make a big difference. The majority of our wide players want the ball to feet and don't often make that run in behind. But Haaland changes that anyway.

I think the loss of Gabby to our side is being dramatically overplayed, and the reverse is true of Sterling. Gabby has been very good in the CL knockouts but his form over that little spell towards the end of the season has clouded how useless he was for the majority of last season. He got 13 goals in 41 games. Raz managed 17 in 47 yet he's shite!

If both go we'll likely bring someone in and hopefully it's someone with a bit of pace to offer that different approach out wide. Alvarez is a free hit. He could settle and score plenty or he could struggle and make little impact so we would need someone else in if both leave.

At this stage we 99.9 % know, Palmer and McAtee are huge talents, but Sterling is a proven Premiership and International performer and has proved himself over the last decade.
No we don't. Until either get a run of games to showcase their obvious talents, it can only be speculative to say it would be a downgrade
