Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Even if they gave us an end, the Tits Out Jackie accolytes and wannabe weirdos in SS1, who spend the whole game giving wanker signs to the away fans, won’t move anyway. That seems to be their thing
Always found it profoundly weird that you would shell out on a season ticket to watch the best team on the planet but still rather instead spend the whole time you are there telling families from Burnley and Watford that their town may not have as many lifestyle options as ours.
Ah well. City is a broad church. All human life is here

I stand in 115.

TBH, bar 114, the rest of the SS don't get involved with the away fans that much. It's a side on thing. Can't see much unless you stand on your seat. 111, 110, 109, is a different kettle of fish. Those blocks are constantly giving the away fans sh*t. Facing each other at an angle. Both home and away fans going at each throughout the game. I used stand in 110. I loved the banter and piss taking of the away fans. I miss that to this day. I was tempted to relocate this season, but there were no seats avialable.

I think plenty of fans currently in SSL1 would move to an expanded NS as long as the club made L1 a proper signing section. If the club expanded level 2, but kept level 1 as it is, the family stand, I wouldn't move from SSL1.

Seen a few videos from the Villa game where when we make it 3-2 the fans next to the away end spend the entire celebration taunting the Villa fans.

A little blurred as I’ve zoomed in on the picture.

Corner.

The little section of seating about the entrance is amusing.

I wonder what Sheikh Mansour would have done with MR, if anything, if he'd bought the club whilst City were still playing at MR.

That photo and the state of Maine Road is testament to 20 odd years of mismanagement - the team, the results and the stadium all reflected that. Swales was a blue and he probably meant well but he was an utter disaster and Franny bless him, was equally well intended but little better - but only he will know quite what he inherited…

We never ran out of bog roll though.

I’m in 115. There are a few balloons who spend the whole 90 mins doing wanker signs at the away fans and not actually watching the match, but overall it’s just people who prefer to sing and stand. I like it.

Last time I was in Colin bell third tier some miserable old twat actually shushhed me.

You should take that up with @oakiecokie - you obviously woke him up.

Maybe City ought to offer areas for what individuals want.
Like 'This area is for people who want to sit quietly and watch'. 'This area is for people who want to stand, jump up and down and flick V signs at the away fans.' And so on. A lot of trouble is caused by mixing fans with different expectations.

This section is for fans who want a megaphone, a drum, want to wave flags, and want to create an atmosphere.

If you don't like any of those things and they annoy you, please don't apply to go in that section.(or complain about it) ;-)

Swales was a Blue?

Not sure who posted it as the thread has moved on since then, but they said any single tier extension would ruin the symmetry of the Etihad. You do a valid point.

But a single tier hasn't had a negative impact on the apperance of Spurs new stadium which has 2, 3 tier side stands, like the Etihad has. The ends of the 2, 3 tier side stands will never align with a single tier stand behind the goal, but they can be designed and enginnered to tie in as neatly as possible to a single tiered stand behind the goal, as has been done with Spurs new stadium.

Let's be honest, it won't be any worse than the current South Stand 3rd tier expansion with the unsightly and unfinished corners.

The corners will be sorted when they do the N, W & E stand/roof from memory? The S stand corners are purely temporary because of the patched up join to the E & W roofs.

The idea they are going to rip out executive boxes to replace it with a one tier stand is fantasy.

And those saying the club has maxed out on corporate is also nonsense. Why on earth do you think they are making changes on level 2 for next season ?!

The lack of atmosphere at City has nothing to do with stand / tiers etc. Its cause 95% of the crowd barely make a a noise for most games. Putting another 6000 in won’t make a difference if they don’t make a noise.

And the club ain’t gonna shut an entire end of the stadium for a year on the pipe dream that a one tier stand will give the Etihad a red hot atmosphere. As has been mentioned on here - the majority of the tickets would be taken from the same fans already sat in other areas of the ground that don’t make a noise.

Anybody who brings a drum to a match should be taken to a darkened room, made to listen to the constant tuneless drumming for the entirety of the match at full volume then taken to a darkened patch of wasteland given a good kicking and buried in a shallow grave...

Or just be given a lifelong banning order, depending on how the steward feels when the try and get in

That’s more than half the problem when we’ve played at Wembley imho

You mean me. ;-)

Obviously Spurs and Everton have decided a few executive boxes are worth sacrificing for a proper home end behind the goal.

The loss of a few executive boxes currently at the back of L2 really isn't such a big issue. Or is it?

But as forwarding thinking City fans, I appreciate the loss of executive boxes and corporate areas on the back of a continued expansion of those areas around the Etihad, and the income they generate, should be more important than a proper home end filled with 1000's of City fans who want to support the team and want to create an atmosphere.
