"Let's be honest, it won't be any worse than the current South Stand 3rd tier expansion with the unsightly and unfinished corners."

The corners will be sorted when they do the N, W & E stand/roof from memory? The S stand corners are purely temporary because of the patched up join to the E & W roofs.
I hope they do them from plans rather than from memory.

You mean me. ;-)

Obviously Spurs and Everton have decided a few executive boxes are worth sacrificing for a proper home end behind the goal.

The loss of a few executive boxes currently at the back of L2 really isn't such a big issue. Or is it?

But as forwarding thinking City fans, I appreciate the loss of executive boxes and corporate areas on the back of a continued expansion of those areas around the Etihad, and the income they generate, should be more important than a proper home end filled with 1000's of City fans who want to support the team and want to create an atmosphere.
They'd rather have the corporates along the E & W stands anyway I'd guess so losing them from the N or S end would make no difference in that respect.

The extant plans never indicated that.

The idea they are going to rip out executive boxes to replace it with a one tier stand is fantasy.

And those saying the club has maxed out on corporate is also nonsense. Why on earth do you think they are making changes on level 2 for next season ?!

The lack of atmosphere at City has nothing to do with stand / tiers etc. Its cause 95% of the crowd barely make a a noise for most games. Putting another 6000 in won’t make a difference if they don’t make a noise.

And the club ain’t gonna shut an entire end of the stadium for a year on the pipe dream that a one tier stand will give the Etihad a red hot atmosphere. As has been mentioned on here - the majority of the tickets would be taken from the same fans already sat in other areas of the ground that don’t make a noise.

Just to clarify that the plans in 2018 were for an extended 2nd tier. This got rid of the executive boxes. These plans were shown to supporters at fan meetings linked to a fan survey on the expansion. This survey also appeared to show an expanded 2nd tier as well.

But everyone in NS1 and NS2 is quiet as a mouse generally during the game?

Where would they all go are you proposing just turfing them out to the seats of people who might want to move in a new single tiered end?

More chance of the away section moving imo and the SS becoming a completely “home end”

We still think operation one end is needed. The atmosphere is around the away fans. The end

Not sure who posted it as the thread has moved on since then, but they said any single tier extension would ruin the symmetry of the Etihad. You do a valid point.

But a single tier hasn't had a negative impact on the apperance of Spurs new stadium which has 2, 3 tier side stands, like the Etihad has. The ends of the 2, 3 tier side stands will never align with a single tier stand behind the goal, but they can be designed and enginnered to tie in as neatly as possible to a single tiered stand behind the goal, as has been done with Spurs new stadium.

Let's be honest, it won't be any worse than the current South Stand 3rd tier expansion with the unsightly and unfinished corners.

It was me. I have a little OCD :)

Think the corners are meant to be temporary for when he East and West stands are done. Agree they look messy.

More the point where do they go in the year while the North Stand was closed for rebuilding?

It’s all fanciful nonsense and will not happen.

Spurs were building a brand new stadium from scratch with a massive increase in capacity. It will be the same for Everton.

Any change to the Etihad will have to cope with constraints of an existing stadium with people sitting in seats that many have had since the stadium opened.

It’s always been that way at City whereas many other teams’ singing ends are at the opposite end of the ground. Are we just a particularly confrontational fanbase ?

Let’s be honest, the club has never had a problem with moving people/fans around the ground to accommodate new corporate areas, restaurants, bars, padded seats, a family stand, etc. So I don’t think the club will have a problem moving the family stand, which was always too small for NSL1.

The away fans will not be moved. No offence, how many times? 1. A section of the away fans have to be pitch side. 2. Where they are currently is perfect for the away coach park. PL rules and GMP won’t allow City to move the away fans from SSL1, even if City wanted to move them.

Unless you are United or Newcastle?

Wanting people to be turfed out of their seats for a single tier Stand isn’t great IMHO.it won’t guarantee a significantly improved atmosphere either.

It isn’t. Neither was it great turfing people out of the NS to create a family stand. Pricing fans out of L2 to create corporate areas and padded seats. Etc. Unfortunately there will always be people and City fans who have been and will be moved by the club to accommodate new areas inside the ground.

I bet we can incorporate some off-site corporate at the new arena like the rags do at the cricket ground

Apologies if already mentioned..... (enter Titanic pics as appropriate)

The gas tanks off Bradford Road are coming down...... apartments on one of them and the other to do with the new arena being built.
