I'd take the draw right now, given we conceded over 400 in the first innings, and were 5 down for relatively fuck all in reply. The Indians are no mugs, and are a class above the Kiwis.
Bit harsh. They defeated India in the World Test championship final last year.

He was brilliant at Woodstock, never knew his full name, here is one of his best

It's very cool that that's one of his names, isn't it? I suppose I've watched that clip (the full version, with Michael Shrieve's complete solo, naturally) getting on for fifty times. It's staggering. And I'm not even particularly a Santana fan.

Think that New Zealand side peaked last year. The New Zealand commentators openly acknowledged that both before and during the recent series. It’s not disparaging, just accepting that sides go through natural peaks and troughs.

Suicidal batting from Stokes. Needs to be more controlled.

Not entirely sure what point he’s trying to prove now.

We get it, Bazball and Stokes means attacking cricket and taking on bowlers but you’re 250 runs behind and 5 wickets down, take a breather, get your eye in before you go after them.

The fact Bairstow is doingso well down the other end getting 500+ runs off his last 350 balls in test cricket really highlights how stupid it is but imagine if Bairstow wasn’t bailing them out with centuries every innings!

The NZ side that England beat didn’t have Jamieson, didn’t have De Grandhomme, Williamson had only just recovered from injury and was out of form with no cricket behind him, Nicholls was injured and came back mid series, Conway had covid.

They were a shadow of the side they were 12 months earlier.

England had all their 90+ mph bowlers missing.

When Jonny goes — which he will, because he may be a Yorkshireman, but he's only human — it would be nice to think that the tail could pick up 50, or so — as India's tail did yesterday — and makes India's lead less utterly damaging. Unfortunately, I fear that Bumrah will just mow them down.
