I City are meticulous with their signings, we buy technical players with thje right mindset, humble, hard working. Ronaldo is just about as far away from that as can be. It'd be like Pep signing Zlatan .

For that reason I think we actively played utd, fooled them into buying ronaldo, and that we were never considering having him in our dressing room, he's pure poison.

I'm pretty certain that his agent offered him to us (along with a few other top clubs in Europe) but we declined straight away. His agent then used our name to lever stupid money out of United.
That's the impression I got putting together all the tidbits that came out after the signing, I'm not convinced we actually tried to play United it was more his agent and their gullible press cheerleaders that did that.

The ball would be a fucking long way away by the end - somewhere round Bolton or Nantwich depending on what direction they start passing forwards.

They are desperately short of strikers and goal scorers as another player of theirs who had been accused of a serious crime will be heading out. Lately, their matches have been the best comedic series on TV, but I won't be able to watch it if that happens.

You can't maintain possession with only forward passing.

You either score directly from every attack, lose possession or run out of pitch.

Ajax couldn't even beat them in the Cup the other week?

The standard in Holland, outside of technique, is lacking in plenty.

He will be lucky to turn United in to Brighton.

Easier on the eye but still nowhere near the elite.

Dutch football has been the most palpable victim of the Champions League format. It was one of the great leagues in Europe a generation ago, but it’s barely in the top 10 now imo. The UEFA coefficients place it sixth but I’m struggling to accept its better than the Portuguese, UkrainIan and Russian leagues (in less unusual times).

Currently their squad is down (at least) 7 players since the end of the season.
In a week they are off on a world tour , consisting of 6 matches prior to the league starting again. We play 3… including the community shield.

By the last match they could be down to playing the U16 squad.
