What’s happened to De Ligt why are they getting rid

Also thought he had gone down hill since the move ?
 
If we don’t have a replacement Ake isn’t sold.

Just because Pep thinks we can cover for Sterling doesn’t mean he thinks he can afford to lose everyone.

We had dozens of pages of people genuinely thinking Bernardo was off and wanting him to visit their houses for tea to personally promise not to go or it was proof he was off to a sunny bankrupt club leaving John confused and unhappy.

This place is a madness sometimes. I’ve never seen so many happy players rumoured to be unhappy as we have. Just think where these stories start.

Sterling will go probably go tomorrow and we will start getting Cucurella news. That might be the end of our window because they are obviously going through a process of potentially moving.

Ake is a possibility if we get a shed load of money and a good replacement, otherwise he stays.

The rest of it is nonsense sometimes coming from our own fans let alone twitter.

Our current squad is worth £1.02 Billion that’s well clear of any club in the World. There won’t be many more changes now. Better to excited by the fabricated incomings than fearful of the made up departures.

We have reached the stage where no player is indispensable because the system works. Who would have thought we would still be winning the league having lost the players we have over the years for one reason or another.

This next team could be the best yet.

Yeah I agree if Ake goes without question another CB comes in.
 
Could be a busy week coming up then? I imagine tomorrow if the sterling deal is announced that we go straight to sort the Cucurella deal out?? Then depending on Ake get a CB? Unlikely though it’s all done before the tour unfortunately?

Doubt they can get a Cucurella deal and a cb deal done before Friday. Cb probably will take some time, both for akes sale and city moving for a new cb

People going on about a fourth cb whos expected to learn Peps system but also told that they will play 35 games but unlikely to play the important games.

The only type of defender who will do that will be 1) old & very unlikely to adapt to Peps passing from the back, 2) a player motivated by money or 3) youngster who is just starting out

Pep has let Egan Riley go & Tosin went cheaply last season so other than Mbete who's signed a new contract & has probably been offered the 4cb but people on here are saying hes not upto it. So that leaves options 1 & 2

As option 1 would be a cheap option so probably having Otamendi back & 2 would mean offering silly wages for someone who's gonna want to move on. I thought we'd moved away from paying silly wages for average players.

You missed out Callum Doyle for option 3, i'd put him well ahead of Mbete. For most PL clubs i think he'd fit the perfect profile for 4th choice cb, a young talented local lad already with a full season of the mens game behind him. Unfortunately due to all 3 cb's being prone to picking up injuries i dont see us going down the youth route.

Not true, not a whole season maybe after world cup end there's bound a potential CB replacement that wanting to move given major international tournament like World Cup is over so no need to ask guarantee minutes for fear not getting selected into national team.
 
I’ve come around to the idea that we really should just go with Mbete as fourth choice. He‘s 19 in September, with the club since U12s, trained with the first team all last season and parts of the one before…he didn’t win a raffle to get where he is, he’s a graduate of one of the best football academies in the world. Physically he’s ready and we play a good number of games each season against cannon fodder, if he can grab even 10-15 of those games this season we’re more than good enough. Shit, we made even Eric Garcia look good there. And if it turns out he really can’t do it we have Phillips who can step in in a pinch and can go back into the market in January, no harm no foul.

He isnt as good as Doyle,so it would seem a bit daft.
