I honestly think that I would be a better talent scout than Barca has available to them. Torres has scored more than 4 goals in a season exactly once. What a surprise that he isn't a goal scoring machine.

Sometimes I wonder if this would have happened sooner if Messi and Pep hadn't landed in their laps. I think those two covered a lot of cracks.

There’s been alot of talk about Akes replacement not being a big signing due to game time. But has anyone noticed we are not actually targeting a out right centre back?
Gvardiol plays a lot at left back, as an overlapping left back as well, putting balls into the box.
Kounde Plays a lot of Sevillas games as an overlapping right back. He’s even scored goals from that position. Occasionally plays as a CDM as well
both aren’t just centre backs they are a centre back and a full back in one player one of them is also able to play in midfield. So your basically getting a utility player in both for the price you pay.

Trouble is if that utility player gets inured then you are effectively two positions down. It’s great to have players how can fill in but you still need the numbers or it’s a gamble.
Id just keep Ake and sign Cucurella. Call it a day.

Bit of a Gerald Ratner moment that. An attempt at humour but the cules aren’t laughing anymore. We are though.
I think he's specifically talking about the Ake replacement and not suggesting we don't also sign Cucurella.
If Zin also decides to leave due to Cucurella signing on, then spending descent money on a guy like Gvardiol would be excellent business imo.
He can play LB well whenever Cucurella needs a break and also CB whenever the Dias/Laporte/Stones need a break. This would offer him plenty of game time to make the move to City.

I might put this post on three threads as it applies to them all.
I just listened to Why Always Me podcast with Pol Ballus and Sam Lee and they said that City will not now sign Cucurella until they either know Ake is staying or sign a replacement for Ake. Pep is insisting on 4 centre backs as a priority and, as a result, all City’s efforts are going into sorting this out. Only then will they try for Cucurella later in the window. The expectation is that they will get him in the end too. Zin is staying.
They also discussed why would City let Chelsea disrupt their plans like this when the obvious thing to do is keep Ake, sign Cucurella and finish. They didn’t know why other than City must have a plan and have a good reason for it in addition to only doing one deal at a time.
So if they are right keep an eye on the centre half situation before the left back signing.
That will be the sum total of City’s business and they are going as fast as they can looking for a CH but no names have been leaked so far though Pol says he is constantly trying to find out.
So it’s either one more in and none out OR two more in and one out.
It would make more sense from the outside to get Cucurella in and then we can’t lose but the feeling was that the Ake deal was much more advanced than Cucurella and City want to finish it off one way or another asap.
My own opinion is that it comes down to money. I think City are looking to use the Ake money to buy a decent centre half for less money than they receive for Ake. This excess then goes towards the Cucurella deal.
