It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Personally I’m glad to see City have finally mastered the art of moving players on we have had some great sales this season
Historically we have kept players too long and therefore not generated income from their sales
I remember as a kid waking up to see some Utd legend being sold and thinking wow.The next week another star signed and made them stronger and became their next legend
The key for me is to get the best years out of the player and move them on and replace them with the next one
We finally seem to be doing that as long as we replace the likes of Ake Zinchenko etc etc we will be fine it’s called evolution

If he goes then a replacement will join. As we have done for every other position this window.

Most likely. However if we are speculating, which we all are, perhaps that might be one of the reasons the club have rejected significant offers for Kabore. I.e If we get Cucurella and Zinch stays, 4 FBs with Cancelo doing a lot at RB. If Zinch leaves, Cancelo covers more LB and Kabore who would take up that spare NHG spot in the squad helps at RB.

Zinchenko would barely play if Cucurella came in. And if all of Cucurella, Cancelo and Walker are fit, Pep will have a pleasant headache picking who to play. Zinchenko would always be 4th choice.

But replacing Aké with Kounde sounds expensive?
Quality costs and 45m and Ake off the books is simply too good to resist.

Kounde is a huge, huge upgrade on Ake and possibly even Dias and Laporte.

I can’t believe yesterday I was thinking City need to sell Zin too along with Ake and get Cucu for left back and Gvardiol who can be Ake replacement and Cucu cover at the left, these four deals would balance each other monetarily and on the pitch. If these four deals go through it would be excellent, but if we get Pau for example instead of Gvardiol, Cucu would be left without a cover which would be a problem if what happened last season happens next season. These four deals could make this either a 10/10 summer or screw us over if we get hit with injuries. Although their is also Issa Kaboré to consider, if Pep wants to keep him with the team but getting stuck with three natural right back and only one left back would be a gamble, shit I really don’t want to be the recruitment team right now, hopefully everything works out.

Putting exact names aside, you think that the club would happily spend 47m on a player that isn't as good as they are after, but not spend 65m on a player they think would be an ideal addition and has long term potential?
He is not any worse than Ake (and not much drop in quality than we current have) he is only slightly more expensive than what we have paid Bournemouth and he is more likely to move than Gvardiol this time. More than likely he will be at Juventus.

Could definitely be a factor

I reckon we let Kabore go on loan with Walker's age in mind and we go with Cucurella and Cancelo at LB and Walker and Cancelo on the right. We have Laporte and Stones capable of playing at full back and could yet bring in an Ake replacement capable of LB also.

Good luck to zinchenko, seems a sound lad and has been a big part of our success.

I think cucurella will be a brilliant signing, very intelligent fullback, good technically and positionally and seems to have that really good timing, which reminds me of zabaleta in his pomp

Starting to think the club thought it was unfair for us to add Haaland to our squad so sold all of our players.

Finding this summer a particularly odd one. I thought we were short of players the last 2 seasons and we could potentially go into this season with even fewer.

Still a great squad in terms of ability but we could be an injury or two away from struggling.

My biggest fear for the summer is that after agreeing to let all these players leave as their valuations were met we might end up at the end of the transfer window and Barcelona have somehow pulled £80m quid out of nowhere and bid for Bernardo. We then either agree to sell him so as to keep our word or we refuse and Bernardo turns round and says that we allowed everyone else to leave so we should let him as well. Could cause a problem…

Would be cracking business to Get Gavidol and curcurella in exchange for Zinchenko and Ake and some of the 12 million profit we are on currently according to transfermaket.com would mean better at CB Left Back Midfield and CF and have profit only question would be right wing

Could have Cancelo Walker and Kabore At right back and Cancelo and Cucurella on left

Always hard to bid farewell to liked players but im all for giving potentially younger academy lads more of a chance of breaking through with an already world class squad. Zinners defending is fukin shite especially with balls swinging to the far post. Nowhere near good enough and we will always have better 1st team players going forward. Thanks for Villa 2nd half tho lad you were instrumental us winning league!

You’ve not shown a single stat that Cucurella is better than Zinchenko as of yet, barring picking out Welbeck whereas Zinchenko had nobody to pick out.

Zinchenko will have played minutes when we’d already won and were playing keep ball rather than attacking, which will also skew his stats.

Zinchenko managed 4 assists in his minutes last season. Cucurella 2, in 3 times the amount.

By all means say the guy is better defensively, but by reiterating that you think he’s better than Zinchenko going forwards, you look foolish, especially when your stats don’t back you up.
The assists? No one to pick out? Welbeck?! You’re joking right.

Cucurella was assisting Welbeck and Maupay. Zinchenko wad picking out Sterling, de Bruyne, Jesus, Mahrez, Gündogan etc. so many better players to assist. Just because they aren’t natural strikers doesn’t mean Welbeck is easier to find. The fact that Brighton have less of the ball and create fewer chances in general mean he is their chief creator by a long way too.

Zinchenko created just 16 chances so City players scored 25% of the chances he created.
If Brighton had scored 25% of Cucurella chances he’d have 10 or 11 PL assists.

Zinchenko has better attacking per 90 stats than Cancelo. Yet anyone with half a brain could tell you Cancelo is leagues ahead offensively.

No surprise players who don’t feel automatic picks for big games want to leave. They’ve won a shed load of trophies and are nearly all approaching their last meaningful contract. They want a few seasons as automatic starters and we can’t offer them that.

The CL is a lottery and that’s the only other pull in our favour, so good luck to them. I trust the club will not leave a manager who is on verge of signing an extension, with a squad unable to compete across all fronts. It’s only mid-July.
