As long as Ake hasn’t had his head turned and is happy to stay, it’s maybe for the best from a squad continuity standpoint. I think £50m would have been a fantastic deal for us. However, I’m glad the club have made a stand on price and will hopefully do the same with Zin.

I'm pleased with this as I think that Ake is a top 4th choice CH (yet able to come in a play at 1st team level when required).

He also plays the piano well (which it seems that the other members of the squad appreciate a lot).

Really happy with this. I think Ake stepped up in a big way last season and proved why we went for him in the first place with some very solid defensive work. He's a good aerial threat to have on the pitch at the other end too, and we've always needed a fourth CB, especially this year with the WC when god only knows what kinds of injuries and issues could occur.
