It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

There must be alternative options for Lb. No need to box ourselves into a Brighton phantom zone. Although city at times like to fuck about chasing a player for longer than is necessary. Kane last season springs to mind. Put the money down or go buy a lb that is in our price range.
city only go for a specific type of player when signing people and if Cucurella is the only one who fits the bill, it could be a Kane 2.0. Unlikely tho.

I think the Cucurella transfer bears a strong resemblance to Harry Kane last season. A player we are desperately keen for and to some extent need, but in both cases a chairman who knows that and wants a more than market value. I don’t think anyone would pay north of £50m for him, including us, so I assume the result will be the same. I do wonder if we have a plan B this time though
For me it’s more like the Walker transfer where Levy were willing to sell but wanted to look like a hard negotiator in the process. I think Bloom wants to sell, but wants us to ”piss blood” in the process.

I understand the preference but we wanted Kane and ended up with Haaland. Maybe we need to do the same here.

Not a chance we let Zinc go without having a plan a and plan b. That being said, i'd be stunned if we dont sign Cucurella now we seemingly have give Zinc the green light to go.

This is most likely it. They’ve lost Bissouma already so he’s probably just keen not to lose someone else so easily.

Of course, we all are. All these no-marks questioning people that share information they receive in good faith, whether it turns out to be right or not, should consider instead what they have added to the forum, other than complete bollocks.
Nobody should be 0 or 100% about any information on this forum. Deals aren’t done until they are 100% done. Therefore anybody can be made right or wrong if the transfer saga fluctuates.

Remember the Delph signing? One day an ITK was supreme, then a **** etc.

Just enjoy the ride.

ofc it was a success, but a lack of a clinical forward bit us in the ass in the big games. Liverpool at Anfield. Liverpool at home. Tottenham at home. Madrid away. Strikers don’t just score goals it’s their movement that disrupts defences and creates for others. It’s why Madrid won the champions league later stages of the competition you need a player that’s guaranteed goals / makes defences second guess themselves, exactly what Benzema did against us and against the dippers.
Benzema scored 2 penalties.

City lost the tie 100% due to biased refereeing, injury crisis and an unfair playing field between PL and La Liga. Madrid didn't even play to the weekend prior to playing man city. City battered Watford that Saturday.

Agree the situation is more Walker than Kane.

I guess we'll sign him for 47m plus 5m add ons. Or something like that.

But they lost him for only 25 mil. It's just not fair that they demand 50 mil plus for a player that had 2 goals and 1 assist last season.

Would be a decent deal for both sides imo. Cuc is very young and technical, assuming that he won't be twxrking of Barca after a couple of years, reckon this transfer would be amazing for us. Brighton get 3x the money they paid for him only a year and half prior

The only thing that’s fair is the price they ask for. He's their player and they have every right to set the valuation. If they end up with an unhappy player at the end of the window then that’s their choice.

It’s like trying to buy someone’s house who doesn’t want to sell and then being upset that they want more than the market rate for it

I couldn't disagree more with that. We lost the tie because we were wasteful in attack and sloppy in defence. We should have been 3-0 or 4-0 up at home inside 30 odd minutes. But switched off and got pegged back. We didn't have the nous to see the game out in the Bernabeu when 2 goals to the good with minutes left. Then Real played out ET with no issues because they just play acted. It was a lesson in how to see out those moments. We were frantic and shocked. When they got the first goal, we didn't pause and take breath. Someone should have gone down injured and given everyone a chance to reset. Instead we just got sucked into the atmosphere and momentum.

They have every right to demand 50m for a player with 4 years left on his contract
Maybe I'm being naive but isn't a player's transfer value is determined by his performance on the pitch? Extending a contract doesn't mean the club can charge extortionate amount for the player. Might as well 50 mil for zinchenko then? After all he had 3 years on his contract and has won 10 trophies in career playing majority of the games as well

Selling Zinchenko to get in Cucurella is madness for me. We need both, considering Cancelo covers both right and left we should have got in Cucurella to fight for that LB spot. Mendy has never held the position, now that he's completely out of the picture we should be replacing that position. Cancelo is amazing, but having a right footed LB doesn't work against every team and you can tell Pep really wants someone there. But Cucurella should be the replacement of Mendy, not Zinchenko who should have been given a bit more freedom to fight for other spots next season.

We are covered in Zinny's primary position the only weak spot is LB which Cucurella (or alternative) is brought in for.
