The man, the myth, the legend. (at least in his mind)
Great clip but this is still my favourite
Hilarious. But “he didn’t interfere at all” oh no.

The money was gleefully accepted but for some reason the attendance counter kept failing i would imagine. Not sure if he was joking at the time but Paul Power told me he did.
Wasn't he the one who preferred Ron Greenwood to Cloughie and the prime mover in appointing Graham Taylor?.That Granada making off doc from 80/81? was some of the most awkward telly ever. The board didn't exactly come out of it great.
Do remember one of his tv places in Cheadle, maybe late 70s.
It was a total ego trip for him, bet he loved picking England managers, had plenty of practice.....twat!
They say a picture speaks a thousands words. That photo of Swales under the photo of Swales is classic BrentIt’s finally online…. The Peter Swales video:

The Peter Swales Video You’ve All Been Waiting For
Here it is online at last! On several occasions over the last decade myself & Will McTaggart have included a video profile of MCFC chairman Peter Swales in our Boys In Blue film show. each time…gjfootballarchive.com
No City fan can afford to miss this.
Yes - I interviewed him (his last recorded interview) and asked about Clough. He told me that we could’ve had Clough at City as well (1983 it seems) but Swales said ‘problem with Cloughie is that he’d have wanted to run the whole thing… and that was my job.’Wasn't he the one who preferred Ron Greenwood to Cloughie and the prime mover in appointing Graham Taylor?.
That say's it all Gary. Thanks for the video link it's brilliant.Yes - I interviewed him (his last recorded interview) and asked about Clough. How on earth did a TV salesman become the Chairman of Manchester City? What were the circumstances that led to him being in charge? It’s finally online…. The Peter Swales video:

It’s amazing. Having a framed portrait of yourself in your place of work, let alone being filmed for TV sitting in front of it, tells you everything you need to knowThey say a picture speaks a thousands words. That photo of Swales under the photo of Swales is classic Brent
Say what you want about Swales but what an enduringly fascinating character he is
That clip sums him up perfectly. That's great.
I think Woodward was pretty much up there for the rags. We've yet to see if his legacy lasts as long as Peter's.I'd argue that this Man had the most negative effect on the club of everybody who has ever been associated with it. He was no fan of the club deep down it was all about him, the power, the prestige etc.
Fingers crossed it does.I think Woodward was pretty much up there for the rags. We've yet to see if his legacy lasts as long as Peter's.
For a few years until Trevor Francis was signed and then the rot sat in.To be fair to Swales, he always seemed to find the funds to buy players, he just couldn't spot a decent manager if it smacked him in the face
