It’s finally online-the Peter Swales video we’ve been waiting for P31

What about the Curle, Phelan, Kernaghan signings etc, big money signings at the time
You're right i seem to be stuck in an 80s time warp. I think it was the year after when he insinuated we'd be buying Andy Townshend and Ian Wright and we ended up with Alfons Groenendyk(sic) that he fell out with Peter Reid, it's a long time ago.

Oversaw City going from one of the big clubs in the country to a shambles that eventuated in us plummeting to the third tier.

In the five years before Swales came to City, we’d won 5 trophies. That was the most in the country in those five years by any club (Leeds were second to us in those 5 years with 4 trophies, nobody else won more than 2).

In the 1970s, only four clubs managed to get two consecutive seasons averaging over 40,000 spectators: United, Liverpool, Everton and City.

We had the biggest football stadium in the north of England from 1923 to the 1980s. Through the 90s, we built a stand behind one end that was smaller than Stockport’s Cheadle End and knocked a stand down that held 22,000 (that at one time held 36,000) and replaced it with a stand that held 11,000.

To see where we ended up come the late 90s was down to his mismanagement of the club. I’m sure he never intended to cause such a downward spiral of such a great club, but he did.

And in the eyes of the rest of the football world, we aren’t seen as the once great club who had a few bad decades and are now back to being a great club again. We are seen as a club that was a shambles with no history and no fans who have got to a false position as a club that’s undeserved. And that’s down to what Swales did to this club.

Summed it up perfectly. To coin a phrase we were a massive club, winning trophies, a large growing fanbase with everything going for it. We ended up a joke of a club, an utter shambles. The mocking journalists, fans of other clubs and worst of all the foreign internet wannabees who've never been to a game live can fuck right off. We've always been a huge club with a magnificent chequered history and we're back where we belong, at the top.

He was crocked often but some great moments, his debut and a worldie against Wolves just after Christmas to send us top of the league spring to mind.
Story of his career unfortunately mate, still makes my all time best City squad, would be a starter (injuries allowing) if it wasn’t for Sergio and Tevez.

I seem to recall he had a pretty decent world cup in Spain and then we got the bombshell that he was being flogged to Sampdoria for 800,000 to pay for the Maine Stand roof, i think the average went down by 8000 the following season when he was effectively replaced by a past it David Cross and Chris Jones on a freebie from Spurs. The inevitable happened that season.

It’s finally online…. The Peter Swales video:

No City fan can afford to miss this.
Will this be available for those of us outside the UK anytime soon? I'd love a trip down memory lane.
