It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Most people on here had never even heard of him before last week.

We need a quality experienced player to come in.
I am all for giving kids a chance but most are rating him on a couple of YouTube moments running with the ball in preseason games.

What I saw was someone comfortable in possession (expected learning at City every day) and someone who likes to get forward. What I also saw was a guy who was positionally all over the show defensively. Again this is expected at his age but playing week in, week out for a team who is expected to challenge for the title is not the correct arena for his learning.

I think there is a fair chance that those clamouring for his inclusion now, would be back on here in a couple of months stating he is nowhere near ready.

No City fan could have watched us against Madrid in the CL last season and still believe we don’t need a full back.

The main reason why we did not reach back-to-back CL finals was due to an injury to Walker and Cancelo’s suspension. Dinho, Stones and Zinchenko got run ragged in those two games. Funnily enough, the longest period Madrid went without scoring was when Walker was on the pitch.

Not signing a LB this summer after the way the CL panned out would be negligent in the boards part. Not signing a LB after selling Zinchenko is criminal.

Thankfully, all the signs point towards our board bringing in a first choice LB.
Good post based on facts. Those that think we can muddle through again have short memories.

No, it was due to not being more clinical in taking our chances, thankfully the board have addressed that.

Maybe we should just give JWE a chance?
I don't wanna keep commenting this, but, the main issue with JWE from a club POV isn't whether he has the ability- it is the fact he's missed two of the last 3 seasons with major injuries (ACL and Hamstring reconstruction surgery)- hardly the dependable cover you need

And? Sometimes players break through that people haven’t heard of. It’s all on pep anyway. If he thinks he’s good enough then why not? Same with someone like palmer

We conceded 10 goals in all of our group games, round 16 and quarter final ties combined.

We conceded 6 in the two legs against Madrid alone.

The season before when we reached the final, we conceded 5 goals in the whole competition.

Wasteful finishing obviously played a role in the loss. However, conceding the goals we did was more uncharacteristic of City than wasting chances. That’s what cost us more IMO.

The fact you state cancelo played more than ederson last season surely shows how desperate we are for another full back? He clearly burnt out towards the end of last season it’s hardly surprising.

Losing Walker cost us in the champions league imo. 2 senior full backs isn’t enough especially with Laporte injured currently. We lose either Walker or cancelo we would be fucked.

Stones for me is pretty poor when he plays rb he def isn’t the answer, could see Phillips but rodri will need to be rested with the condensed schedule.

The squad was thin last season and cost us in the fa cup,. Not to mention zinchenko completely changed the game when he came on at lb against villa which aloud us to play cancelo rb. If we hadn’t had the option to go with 2 orthodox full backs we probably wouldn’t have won the league last year.

To say we are ready if Bernardo stays is madness the squad is way too small imo we need another full back if we are to compete for every trophy.
Agree. Cancelo had an awful end to the season. We do need someone to rotate with him and we can't expect Kyle Walker at 32 y.o to play 40+ games either.

Just don't understand why City are so fixated on just one name in Cucurella, there's plenty fullbacks on market that fit our profile, why not just quickly sort a deal for them?
Imo, if we can't get Cucurella we should go for Sosa and Raum. Their combined cost would be around 55-60mil and we would get 2 great LBs (and a Croatian :)

10 years ago we had shittiest transfer market ever since the Sheikh Mansour era..

Mancini was waiting for De Rossi and RVP and maybe Bale as well :D TBF Mancini had the point -> guy won PL title against fucking Fergie and his United, who were playing like robots.. You can hate current Liverpool team, but at least they have got some quality players and even though you can't bear, it's logical when they win.. But United ? Phil Jones and Johny fucking Evans and other shitheads, except Rooney - they didn't have quality players, so it was Fergie and his "magic", which made this whole process unbearable..

And so Mancini waits for those three players, to compete for another title and maybe CL and at this stage at the end of July we only had Jack Rodwell :DDD and Adam Johnson / Dejong were gone.. And on 31-th of August we got the perfect pack of players: Scotty Sinclair, Xavi aka slow Garcia, Maicon's fake double and Nastasic..

10 years later our transfer window is masterpiece created by Txiki and other ones.. You can't even wish for the better one...
Why didn't they just pay off Mancini instead of playing funny fuckers with him? It cost us the title and gifted utd one they really didn't deserve

Not sure what we'd do with 2 left backs. We do need a right back though in case Walker or Cancelo get a major injury.
