I genuinely thought Liverpool played like an expensively assembled Stoke City. I’m not worried at all based on that performance.

For city, I think pep just doesn’t see this match as any thing more than it is, a friendly. I don’t think he learned anything, I don’t think he tried anything, I don’t think it will be a reflection of our season.

We knew before the game that we were undercooked and so it proved, we still had periods of the game where we dominated and the intensity of the game will help the team be ready for next week hopefully.

That’s all that matters, tough one to start. A week of working on the training ground and hopefully reviewing footage to see the kind of runs Haaland is making.

Shame he didn’t score there but don’t think the big lads confidence will be dented too much.

We absolutely need to vary our attacking play though if we’re going to get the best out of Haaland. Obviously the sitter was ridiculous but overall he made so many good runs that went unnoticed. If we don’t utilise his strengths, he’s going to get frustrated.
